TV SHOW REVIEW // Shameless
Shameless is the story of Frank Gallagher, an irresponsible drunk who leaves his 6 kids to cope and survive together the best they can in the south side of Chicago. It'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry and it'll make you want to keep watching. It's not on regular cable television so, the language is as out of hand as it needs to be and there is plenty of sex scenes to peak your interest. If you're into that kind of thing. The show aired for the first time on January 9, 2011 on Showtime and is an Americanized version of a show in the UK with the same name.
The cast is full of amazing actors and actresses that bring the characters that we all love to life, including names such as:
William H. Macy
Emmy Rossum
Ethan Cutkosky
Shanola Hampton
Jeremy Allen White
Steve Howey
Emma Kenney
Cameron Monaghan
Joan Cusack
Isidora Goreshter
and Justin Chatwin
One of my favorite shows of all time. The first time I watched it, I fell in love with it. And now I can't wait for the next seasons. There are certain parts of this show that remind me of things in my own life, so in a way, I connect with this show personally. William H. Macy's character, Frank, reminds me a lot of my Uncle Joe, who used to baby sit me for years. They're almost the same guy. Hahaha. Macy plays Frank so perfectly you'd think that he's got a little bit of Frank in his own personality. But that's hard to believe. He definitely deserves any awards he gets thrown at him for his performance on this show, because it's phenomenal.
I loved this show so much that I named one of my mixtapes after it. I used to sit in my mom's living room, smoking cigarettes and weed watching this show back to back. While my neighborhood might not be as bad as the south side of Chicago, I feel most urban places like the one in the show, all have that same "shameless" type of attitude. It's not hard for people like us to do or say shit. Whether it makes us look bad or not. Every episode leaves you wanting to know what happens next. It can get pretty intense at times and incredibly dramatic. You may cry. Take my word on it. I give this show a 5/5. I will forever love this show. Watch it if you haven't before the new season starts in a few months!
