Creative as always my friend. It's a bit funny because the situation appears to be a very isolating one but in reality it is a totally connected experience.
Regarding past lives, without the forgetting veil, we would immediately and consciously know the truth which would dull the quality of experience that we have in this life.
Not necessarily. One could use the past experiences to supercharge the acts of this life.

Even if we don't remember we may still carry some instincts. When I was a kid I had a pretty good general idea about what kind of a life I'd end up living and what kind of things I'd end up liking. Absolutely, the current energetic representation of all of our past/present life experiences and choices is contained within our Being and therefore accessible on some level. Not to mention our ability to access the universal mind which provides flashes of insight or intuition. The veil is not a steel reinforced concrete wall, but instead a semi-porous barrier that can be lifted or removed completely. My belief is that the great enlightened prophets and bodhisattvas reached this state and attempted to guide others with their teachings.
There is a spiritual (to me spiritual really just means energy) awakening occurring on this planet and I therefore expect more and more people to exhibit, what is considered, extra sensory capabilities... especially children.
