Change the system.
This is a quote from http://www.foavc.org/
'If you just want government to remain the same as before except for new people carrying it out, use our election process (Article II and Amendments 12 and 23). If you want to create permanent changes in governance, use the amendment process described in Article V.
Politics as usual, unrepresentative government, over regulation, inequality, unbalanced powers, and other governance issues of our times can be addressed through an Article V Convention. This convention gives you the chance to make changes. We as citizens elect or run as delegates who will participate in the national debate. Together, we decide how this country will be run and what principles will prevail."
A constitutional amendment has too many politicians standing in the way. We need to vote every incumbent out and then we can get some real progress. For the past 20 years, I have refused to vote for an incumbent regardless of political party. If we could get everyone to do the same then we could get real change.
Not good enough.. You need candidates committed to direct democracy. The reps must act according to the will of their constituents.
I would like a dollar for every politician who went into office supporting a particular position but who once in power changed to more self serving views. I think term limits are the only way to keep this from happening.
I think ( actually i know) a layer of direct democracy is the only way to keep this from happening.
