Thoughts about the word “Faith”

The word faith has been responsible for tons of discussions many times without an end, misunderstandings often with unfriendly endings, promises that are most of the time unfulfilled, hopes that are often broken, unrealized dreams, wars that are many times unjustified, and many more events, all caused by how the concept of faith is interpreted. This word is defined as:
confidence or trust in a person or thing | Source
The problem with this word is that it has been totally appropriated and kind of confiscated by religious groups, leaving the word unable to be used for other purposes. This word could also used on a daily in other places doing different activities, and this is why I would like to share today.
Therefore, I want to talk about the concept of Faith, because I believe a new definition is more in line with these modern times we are currently living, where not everything is taken on "pure faith", instead we have people increasingly demanding an answer to understand the reason behind anything they don’t understand. I think the majority of people is now (in some cases) more demanding when it comes to adopting certain beliefs.
So I will give a simple example about a student doing some tests in his class: when he is doing the tests, and says he "has faith" the result will be the ones he is expecting, he is not saying he has no evidence of what is doing, nor that he has no idea about what is going to happen, or that what is going to happen is going to be the result of some paranormal event.
When this person says that he has faith in something, he means that after having deeply studied the system or the mechanism he is testing, he is confident that his predictions based on previous calculations and the information he has available will give a certain result.
In other words, the "faith" of a rational person is based on evidence and justified projections, and not on blind beliefs, and that is an important distinction that is good to keep in mind. I don’t think that this word should only be used in a religious context, literally everyone can have faith in something, whether that person is religious or not.
Another factor why faith is mostly used in religious contexts might be the tendency to use the word “hope” in every other context. Hope is briefly defined as:
to expect with confidence | Source
If we check both definitions, both words base their meaning in having confidence towards something, whether it is a person or an event. Therefore, the only reason why the context conditions which word people use most be due to a custom inherited from centuries ago.
Which of these 2 words do you use more and why?

I completly agree with you @dedicatedguy that currently word "faith" has been fully "confiscated by religious groups".
I dont remember last time I used it.
Great read, yours Piotr
Hey there @@@crypto.piotr!
Thanks for stopping by mate, yeah it is one of those cases when a word becomes kind of kidnapped by certain groups.
hi @dedicatedguy
thx for your comment. And Im sorry for such a late reply. Just had few rough days lately.
Yours, Piotr
Hola amigo,
I guess I use both words, although lately - mainly due to spending a lot of time studying the law of attraction - I prefer to use even more positive words like ( I ) trust or expect that things are going to work out. I also like to say or think "I am looking forward" to...
To be honest, saying I hope that... or have faith in something sounds some what oldfashioned to me, especially the latter: faith. I admit that it's very much attached to religion and I'm not a religious person so that might well be one of the main reasons.
I am a positive person, though, these days, so I love to use the right kind of words and thoughts to feel good as much as I can.
Have you studied the law of attraction yourself? If not, there's an extremely interesting (E-b)ook called 'Ask and it is Given' that talks about the different emotional states that we can be in and how to change to more positive states / or emotional frequencies. Let me know if you're interested and I can send you a link.
Have an awesome day,
Saludos desde Portugal,
O Vicent
I saw a documentary about it called The Secret a few years ago, I do think our mentality and thoughts can have an impact in our life.
I am indeed interested in the link :) please send it.
Cheers Vincent!
Ah, I never saw The Secret. Definitely heard about it.
In fact, I remember having a talk with a screenwriter with whom I worked on a feature film project for a while ( back in 2013 /14 ). He talked a lot about the law of attraction. Back then, it sounded very vague and farfetched too me. Perhaps it was his explanation of it or I just wasn't open to it.
You can find the book via a link in this post that I wrote a while back: Easy Access to the Law of Attraction - Free Ebooks
