Inside No. 9 is a great anthology series
Thanks to Black Mirror, American Horror Story, and the sadly canceled Channel Zero, I have to say that anthology series is something that tends to catch my attention.
An anthology series is when different and independent stories are produced under the same commercial name and generally from the same team. Some of these series have each episode with a different story (like a kind of mini movies) such as Black Mirror, and in others the story changes per season, such is the case of American Horror Story. These 2 brands are probably the 2 most successful anthology series examples from this decade. And it is clear that this model is becoming popular because in recent years new anthology series have emerged seeking to earn their share of fans.
Today I decided to write about one that instead of trying to be a Black Mirror copycat (as many do), it has a well-defined and independent identity. It's called Inside No. 9 and its episodes are short, they barely last 30 minutes and their stories are sometimes about comedy, or psychological thriller, and so far I've only seen a horror episode that was very well done.
So far I have seen the entire first season, and 3 episodes from the second season. The reason why I decided to write about this series is because the ending of episode 2 from season 2 has one of the best twist I've seen in recent months and perfectly clarifies all the confusing things that happen throughout the episode. While it is true that almost every episode always keeps a great twist at the end, the one in this episode was really great.
However, this is not my favorite episode of this series. At the moment my favorite is one called "Tom & Gerri" from season 1.
oh man this is exactly the sort of show that I look for. Traditional series tend to lose my interest really quickly and although I don't generally care for American Horror Story i do like the fact that once a season we get another chance for a different(ish) subject. Black Mirror of course, is the bomb.
I hope this is on Netflix, if not, we do have other ways of acquiring stuff :)
About American Horror Story, they usually make excellent posters and sometimes super creepy intros. When it comes to the actual series, they are a solid 7-8 in my opinion. Some seasons are better than others. For example, last year's season was my favorite one, it was about the antichrist vs the witches from season 2 (first time they do a huge crossover between seasons). Now, this year's season isn't looking very promising for me. It looks like an 80s slasher tribute.

By the way, another new horror anthology series is The Haunting of Hill House. So far there is only 1 season but next year they will release season 2. The first one was honestly one of the best horror creations I have seen in my life. Especially the first few episodes. If AHS is a solid 7-8 this one is a 9.
Regarding Inside No. 9, I don't think it is on Netflix.
I'll find No 9 by "other means" then No problem. I agree with you about the intros for AHS but really don't agree with you about Hill House. While I enjoyed the first couple of episodes I didn't enjoy the entire story. To be honest I don't really remember why.
