I've Been A Mess

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

Here is a perfect example of how the past couple of days have gone for me. The 1st photo below is when I started this post, the 2nd was how I had to change things up to pick up wireless internet again...

This is not where my computer will be permanently. I had to install a Wireless PCI Adapter after work yesterday. I decided it would be best to bring my PC up here last night to test how it picks up internet. It worked like a charm last night but this morning the connection has not been so great.

However, it does work enough for us to get my desk moved up here. I'm thinking once it is pointed in the right direction, it may be a stronger connection. And if all else fails, it will work well enough until Hubby can run the Ethernet connection up here. Although, I hope not to have to put him through that pain in the rear.

Work was okay yesterday, we were just extra busy so it kicked my butt and I was more than tired after my shift. I'm lucky to enjoy my job though and I worked in the kitchen with my personal friend. (I knew her before I got this job.)

Friday was a hard day and not because I moved everything from my bookcase up here. It was hard because it was my mom's Birthday. Those kind of dates are hard to get through after losing a loved one but the 1st year of them are especially hard.

As the day approached, I thought I was going to be okay. I guess I figured since I have lived it before when we lost the kids dad that maybe I had grown a thicker skin. Well, not so much.

I was teary off and on but I manged to throw myself into getting stuff moved up here and got more moved than I thought I would. When I ran out of things to move, I began to organize anything that I could. My bookcase is looking pretty good and organized.

Don't be fooled though, there are still more in boxes to sort through yet. However, I have plenty of storage things to put it all in now. Did you notice I bought more of those grey baskets? They will not be empty for long. :D

Between the bad light from the ceiling fan and the blackout curtains, its not too bright in here yet. I will be getting a new ceiling fan though. We have checked every where now and no one has the replacement globe we need for this one.

I also have professional lights for vlogging and picture taking but they are not up here yet. My goal is to get the lighting decent enough though so I won't have to drag them out every time I wish to take a photograph up here.

I have a lot to get accomplished today but I plan to be roaming around Steemit, catching up on everyone's posts when I take breaks.

I didn't even know that was a thing. We just bought 100 feet of Ethernet cable so I can be hooked straight into the box from our provider, like I was downstairs.

It may be next weekend before Hubby gets it all installed though because he's putting the new ceiling fan in and my desk together today. At some point this week he is getting cable into this room.

I bet Hubby is glad he is over pneumonia now. lol

Isn't it wonderful to get organized like you just did and making a great space for yourself. I wish you the best and may your internet work much better for you.

It is! I love my new space very much. Thanks, Hubby got the Ethernet line ran up here so my internet is strong again. :D

Everytime we chmove things around it seems to mess up those darned signals doesn't it? lol I remember having to do something similar, to buy a signal booster to sort my tv out when I re-arranged my living room.

So sorry to hear about your mom...I know how that can feel, to have a special time come around for a recently departed. Never sure what to do as you can feel bad for not doing something special, but at the same time struggling to know what.

But I think you have really blazed a trail with that room now Debra, that's something very special all in itself :-)

The internet has been better today but I am anxious for Hubby to get the Ethernet line ran back up here. After yesterday, I am not wanting to depend on wireless.

My kids were 9 & 11 when their dad passed. I used to make cupcakes on his birthday because the kids knew he liked them and it helped them feel close to him on that day. I wish I had an easy solution like that for myself with mom. The passing of time will help a little though.

Thanks, I am loving this room so far. Everything has fit in here much better than I expected and I really only have some organizing and picture hanging left to do now.

Don't worry, you'll get it running like a dream in no time :-)

I see by the later comments things are coming together for your office.
Your words, about the first year after a loved one passed being especially difficult, rings so true. No matter how our relationship was with our parents we never forget them and memories will pop into our heads.
Sending good vibrations and love Deb. Hugs dear friend.

Thanks so much! ((hugs))

You are obviously one, very organised person @deralee The bookcase looks great and I do hope your internet issues will soon be a thing of the past. It can be very frustrating can’t it? Those photos you shared of you and you Mom are lovely and it’s also lovely that you are able to shed tears in remembrance of your Mom because that shows you shared a close and loving relationship. Continue to cherish those memories. 🌺

I am organized at the moment but this has not always been true. lol I can say that I have always known where things are... usually. :P

The internet seems a bit better today but Hubby is running the Ethernet line up here as soon as he can so I can be plugged back into the source.

Thank you!

I am glad the internet problem worked out now! I had to get 100 feet of Ethernet wire run down to the basement for my son's PC too, and it worked better than the wireless one..

As for missing your mom, it will happen again, now and then! I lost my dad for nearly 30 years, but I still miss him, and think of him. It is not too often, but still do when I feel a need for him..

The internet is better today but I will be happy when we get that Ethernet line ran up here. This has certainly reminded me to appreciate it.

Thanks!

I hired a handyman to put in the ethernet cable! All he has to do is drilling a hole through a floor in the corner and stick the line down! My son and I just had to hang it across the basement ceiling and connect it to his PC. I hope your case is as easy as ours so your husband doesn't have a lot to do..

Thanks! He's going to run it up from the garage but he wants it to hit the closet in this room. He's got a good estimate where that is but wants to be sure before he punches the hole.

The bookcase looks pretty neat @debralee. Looking forward to see everything settled to lessen the work you need to do and just some pure relaxation. Hope you and your hubby had an awesome weekend despite all the stuff needs to be done there. 🙂

Thanks! We did have a pretty nice weekend.

I love how you organize things. I am sorry to hear about your mom but I am so sure that she is celebrating now in heaven happily and is very proud of you.

Thank you! I am sure she is too, she is there with many of her loved ones.

You never develop a thick skin to the pain and sorrow of losing someone close to you. And sometimes it will sneak up years later when you least expect it. It means you are human.

Thanks! It's been over sixteen years now since we lost the kids father, and it still sneaks up on me every now and then. It's funny how we forgot its okay to be human sometimes.
