The Xoloitzcuintli, or Xolo for short is a Mexican breed of dog that is normally hairless. They are also the national dog of Mexico.

According to one legend, the dogs were previously worshipped by the Aztecs. Another popular legend states that the Aztec deity, Xolotl, made the dog and gave it to man with special instructions to guard it with his own life. In return the dog was supposed to guide man in his daily endeavors.

As they grow up, the dogs are noisy and very aggressive until they reach 2 years of age. After which they begin to calm down and develop loyalty. They are relatively healthy as they grow up although their hairlessnes requires that they need protection with sunscreen and moisturizer.
