Darkflame update 2019
2018 is over and 2019 has just begun. I suppose this is the perfect time to review some of the projects I have been working on lately, and also to forecast some of the things I will be doing in 2019.
The year begin as transition, deciding that I was moving out of my old place and uncertain about where I was going to be living next, although full of Hope and optimism because of the many potentials that were unfolding.
Steem was soaring and earnings were as well, so the opportunity was evident and obvious at that point. I resolved that I was going to stay the course and continue to develop projects on steemit. My plan to get steem connect integrated with the new website mydarkflame.Net has been a success, thanks to our lead developer. With the new hard Fork it was a process, as certain things changed and had to be fixed, but both the store and the steemit powered interface are functional.
So that is a success, and more than just a website or I store, are the things we learn along the way. I had a great opportunity arise last summer to attend a privacy and security conference on the other side of the country, in Montreal. I had always imagined visiting Montreal, my second cousin is a famous hockey player and he has statues that I imagined I would one day see. I was able to travel there and attend this event, and also walk around the city of Montreal. I found one of these statues and that was a dream come true.
I got to meet the creator of ethereum, I sat next to him during one of the conference events. Even more than that, I got to sit with some extremely smart people who have been incredibly influential in the privacy and security space. I wonder if I will ever get an opportunity like this again, but it will be a time I remember forever. This event also gave me a unique opportunity to gain insight into what this cryptocurrency thing is really all about, and helped me to understand why zcash is probably the most important Cipher coin.
When I got back I dove into things that I had never really thought about, I was asking questions I had never considered, I went back to the basics of programming languages and retraced my own steps. When I was younger I taught myself HTML, and in hindsight I would have learned a lot more. I remember in grade 7 I wanted to homeschool and get a laptop but did not have the opportunity, as my life had a different path. This path however led me to attend a meeting of the most incredible Minds and I'm grateful to have been among them.
In August I started building video games, both in VR and 2D games for mobile devices. This is a very complicated process and it takes a lot of time, the former of which I have not completed but the latter I have made several games. Virtual reality is still such a new format, and there are many different Avenues to consider. Augmented reality, mobile VR, immersive VR, mixed reality the name a few. And how do we make a game that people want to play?
And how do we integrate cryptocurrency into a game? Can you reward players for playing the game? How do you incentivize adoption? How do you motivate people to participate? I have a lot of questions and sometimes it is in the asking that I find the answers. I started building games in 2D just to practice and see what I could create. I developed the game called Aura Despell, I created several versions of this game with increasing difficulty and features. I began building additional levels, and then I switched gears and created a space game.
Now I am building games to deploy on steemit, and I am seeking other people who have skills in programming languages that I do not. I am connecting with other people who want to develop video games, and I have found some interesting contacts. I have been bringing people together and trying to motivate people to participate and form this decentralized organization that I like to call dark pylon gaming. In 2019 I would like to deploy more games on the Steemit platform that you can log in to play, and earn for participating.
There are other projects as well that I have been working on but right now I am heading to pick up clients and I will elaborate further on these things later. I have a long drive tomorrow to Banff National Park, and when I return I may be able to comment more. If you have any questions please please leave them below and if you have any interest, get involved!
