Were you hacked on 27th January watching Youtube Videos? You probably don't know you got hacked! It should be big news but it’s not and many are not even aware that their systems may have been hacked.

It's no surprise that hackers are getting more elaborate in their technics to steal digital currency.
Last year December it was reported Starbucks in Buenos Aires, Argentina Wi Fi was hacked
Resulting in their customers laptops secretly being used to mine Monero (XMR).
On Wednesday 27th January it was found that hackers injected java script code into Youtubes ads to mine Monero. What is mining you may ask? In basic terms mining uses your computer CPU or Graphics card or both to solve a mathematical problem. Miners are then rewarded with digital currency for use of the computer’s CPU and electricity which the miner can then exchange for cash. Youtube user’s anti-virus alarm triggered as the malicious script tried to use their CPU power.

Your PC and mobile devices security is becoming more important than ever and you should review your devices protection. Start with making sure your anti-virus is up to date. Consider using an alternative browser, one that isn’t so popular such as epic browser which focuses on security and has a free VPN (Virtual Private Network) built in for win7+ and MAC OS 10. Chrome, Firefox and other browsers have AdBlocker extensions that you can also add to your browser. Enable your firewall if you haven’t already. If you’re a windows user Tinywall is a great little free app and easy to use, it will configure windows firewall for you with a few clicks.

If you use your credit card online that’s another reason to start protecting yourself as much as you can, don’t become a victim.

If you would like a more in-depth post on the best security apps available and how to use them or do you know any good ones? let me know in the comments below.
