The best coin out there is absolutely Bitcoin, because of it's long history, culture impact, widespreadness and so on.
There's a number of promising coins, and some really great crypto-not-just-a-coin projects, but this will always be the giant on whose shoulders we all stand . Just like Cryptokitties for the crypto-gaming world.

My favorite is Nano (previously known as RaiBlocks)
It has unlimited scalability, it's instant, and transactions are FREE (not near free, but actually free). The technology is different than with other coins like Bitcoin. All coins are already distributed through a online captcha long ago so it was very fair, and no more will ever be made.

I use litecoin for some transactions so that would be my favorite. I don't know too much about all the other ones.

My answer stays the same from the last time I entered answering this question, I really like 1337/Elite. The community is what does it for me, I think that with all the support I'm seeing it have that it'll be seeing a good future.
It's a coin associated with gaming, and I believe it was the first to market itself as a "gaming coin". I'm looking forward to what will come next out of the developers for the gaming and game developer world.
