Blogging Empowerment

in #blog9 years ago (edited)

Over the years with technology we have seen the tide of change where we decide where and who to get our pool of information from, with also being able to add our point of view on the subject with the upgrade of technology.

With the internet came new ways to reach masses of different audiences with interaction from all around the globe, this also allow everyday commoners to share their interests, lifestyle, knowledge in the form of blogging where anyone could write anything they wanted, if people liked what they wrote about they interacted in a way of either a comment, a share on a social media platform where the people they interact with can see what they read, like and find knowledgeable information.

Before the internet we used to get our information from Newspapers, T.V, Books, Radio, Magazines now a lot of company's in these sectors had to change to putting their information on the internet as well as the hard copy versions they were doing, due to massive amounts of people using the internet and not buying hard copy versions of information this changing the type of jobs that need doing, also people seeing this a way to work for themselves or work from home online, making a name for themselves without having a big company taking the profits for all their hard work.

Blogging hasn't been around that long - Looking around online, I found this great information piece - A Brief History of Blogging - it's  a 5 minute read - a great detailed history of when blogging got started - written in 2011, and the changes that have happened over the years to the technical site of blogs -  as in the beginning if you weren't a developer or have the skill set on coding it was apparently impossible to start blogging.

With blogging going mainstream in the mid 2000's for anyone finding out about blogging just now or in the last few years is blogging now saturated and how can blogging give empowerment to anyone, if not in a positive way you may be asking?

Let's start with the saturation with blogging

  • Tumblr blog posts from 2011 - April 2017 - have now gone past 345 blog accounts - you can see the statics here! - That is only one blog posting site.
  • Wordpress apparently supports more than 60 million websites, in February 2017 more than 25.7% of the top Ten Million websites used Wordpress. - Wikipedia
  • Whats the total number of websites in the world - You can see live stats here! It just keeps moving -   1,213,143,664 - the last three digits keep going up really fast.
  • How many internet users are there in the world Here! -  with  3,739,698,500  people using the internet which is 49.7% of the world population.

Which looking around for information on how many blog accounts are existing in 2017 I came across this blog post - Bloggers Income Report April 2017: How Much Money Do Top Bloggers Make
Looking thru at the monthly income for April, the expenses and what they need to do to make what they do.
Lets take a look at the top ranking blog that was found by the blog post above.

                                                                       Pat Flynn

  • Writes 5-10 blog posts a month
  • Podcasts
  • Webinars
  • Interviews other bloggers
  • Speaker at events
  • Email subscription - offers Ebooks and Guides
  • Affiliate Products

Going to Pat Flynn's Website which is about How To Build A Ethical Business Fueled By Passive Income it has his monthly earnings report

  • March 2017 - $258,737.45  Expenses - $46,620.36   Net Profit - $212,117.09
  • April 2017 - $102,915.99   Expenses - $50,460.77   Net Profit - $52,455.22
  • May 2017 - $111,820.46    Expenses - $78,720.97    Net Profit - $33,099.49

Pat Flynn also writes up each month what he has done and what was his expenses that month.

Is Blogging Saturated?

It's like looking at a glass that's beverage line is right in the middle of the glass, some will say the glass is half full, some will say the glass is half empty!

You could say the same about blogging that just under half the worlds population is online, technology is always changing, at the start of blogging it was only developers that were doing blogs, then platforms popped up where you could build a website off their coding but still needed to do SEO, Marketing - email -video -pod casting  -Email -ADS, Affiliate promoting, Build your own product, build your audience also needed to learn what plugins to use when building your website or pay some one to build one which can easily cost $500 to $1000+ and less than a year ago technology has changed again.

A Blogging platform which is so much more that is still in beta, which has been going for less than two weeks of a year, which gives people time to focus on the quality of their posting, knowledge is key, think of it like a digital scrap book.

Steemit isn't just another blogging platform, it's a social blogging site based on top of the Block-chain, when you post on steemit your posts are there forever on the block-chain.
You don't need to worry about SEO, where to place ads, how to set up a website.

  • SEO - is done through the Steemit platform - SEO specialists have been really happy at how high ranked their post get on Google.
  • ADS - No ads here,
So how would I earn if I don't place ads for people to click?
Like other social media sites when someone likes what you post they either like and share your post, here it's call upvoting and resteeming - when this is done unlike other social media sites or blog sites you get rewarded for your content.
  • Website - you don't need to pay for website hosting, website Dominion, plugins - Steemit is a free Account.
What if I already have a website?
If you have a website already there are plugins on wordpress, not surer about other sites, that you can plugin to your website to stream your Steemit blog posts to your website, if your having trouble we have Steemit.chat were everyone is very helpful.
  • Marketing - it's a platform where others use it, Your content depending on your title and your content, if others will read it, you can pay for advertising on the Steemit platform, or you can share to your Twitter, Facebook account via the Steemit app.
Another way is interact with other users, comment on others posts about their post, this helps to share your point of view, also be apart of the community, others may then start looking at your content also.
  • Selling Services or Products - If you have a service or product that can be advertised on peerhub, as Steemit is for knowledge sharing which you could share knowledge about making products, business, different services out their how they got started etc if that's what you are knowledgeable in.
  • Business/Email Marketing - If your a business or someone that shares knowledgeable emails every so often, you may want to share them on Steemit where others can learn from your knowledge also - before doing so you may want to check out some of the very few rules - as it' s about knowledge not spam.

                                                 Blogging Empowerment

Sorry its been along post to actually get to the title name, I wanted to explain blogging, just encase someone reading didn't know what blogging is.

As some of the information that was shared above Blogging can Empower your

  • Knowledge
  • Community
  • Financial
  • Confidence
  • Gratitude

When you share Knowledge that you are knowledgeable and passionate about this can help others by giving them knowledge by learning what you know, which can for some be a new skill that could help them change their lives by them finding what they are good at, changing their lifestyle to benefit themselves and others.
Blogging isn't a one way street it's both ways, as you are sharing knowledge others might add knowledge they know about also in the comment section that might be of value to you or to others, it may lead you to finding more information which you might lead you to being more knowledgeable in the subject you are writing about.

If you are using a platform like Steemit then users that find your content of value can upvote it, resteem it which in turn can add a little financial reward to your content.

How Has Blogging Empowered My Life?

In different ways from being able to read others blog posts, being able to find natural remedy's, finding others doing the lifestyle I would like to achieve - sustainable,  living from the earth, home schooling, healthier food options, going chemical free, homemade so much more as it gives me hope that it is possible to change to the lifestyle we would like.
Arm chair traveling around the world reading the great adventures and some very scary ones, to one day We might be able to do some actual traveling, and live our dreams like others are doing.

Blogging has shaped what I would like to share, dig deep and find myself and what I can actually share with the world that is of use and knowledgeable.
Everyone's knowledge and experience is different as ones point of view it doesn't matter if their are hundreds of people doing the same thing, as everyone is unique and has a different way of presenting their knowledge and experience.
If only one person looks at your post but they learnt something new isn't that what sharing your knowledge is about?

Has Blogging Empowered Your life in some way?

Thanks for stopping by, have a Fabulous Day/Evening!

Steemit is my first adventure in sharing what I have to share with people that I don't already know personally. It's liberating.

That is fabulous @cobloc it is liberating to dig deep and to chip off a bit more about yourself .

Touché. Blogging is a really interesting and introspective way to stagger ones day!

It is @nicholasblack60 some like to blog, some like to read blogs, and some would like to blog but don't know how to get started.

You've found your way to Steemit so that's a great start,
I like like reading and writing also.

I can knock out a TV pilot in 3 days, but this is all new for me. Loving it though.

Wow that is amazing, something I wouldn't want to even attempt.
With the pilots do you get a subject or something to get you going or do you need to come up with everything yourself?

It depends on the projects. There are a couple ways it goes:
A- you write a spec pilot on your own, get it to your reps and see what the interest is.
B-they'll come to you with a basic concept and you flush it out and write it.

which one do you normally do in three days?

Awesome post :)

Thank you for the kind words @brado

Hey Big Lips! Love the post. If you remember me I share information on destinations around the world. Really I'm not here to just plug my new report on Medellin, Colombia; even though I just did! lol. I thoroughly read through your article. Well written and what I like most about it is that it is VERY INFORMATIVE.

Like really, that's what I like best. If I want entertainment I'll watch a movie or something. I read and use the computer mostly to gain knowledge about one subject or another. And that's what I bring to the table with my travel reports.

So your article really made sense to me. I just don't understand these other travel blogs that begin with a title like "follow me on my ski trip to Aspen" I mine as well turn on MTV real world for that kind of entertainment. But that's just me I guess. What do you make of that? I'm out in left field on this? Really, I do not know. I'm new to blogging and have never been big on social media. I do a lot research and email on the computer, not much else....until now with steemit.

Thanks for posting such an informative article. A newbie like myself really appreciates it. keep on keepn' on! -World Travel Pro

Hey world-travel-pro, I surer do remember you!
Glad my post made sense to you.
For your question, I think that there is many ways to look at it, as everyone has a different budget, different style, with following someone on a blog people can relate more easily to a blogger than to lets say famous people with lots of cash to splash, as that may be nice to watch but may be unrealistic to their budget than reading a blog about an everyday persons holiday.

You could find 100 blogs on the same trip and they would all be different as they are all from a different persons point of view and taste.

When I first started doing my website I got complaints about limiting peoples purchasing power as I only focused on budget things and everyone has a different budget, one of my favorite tv shows I've seen is a Russian one called heads and tails, where they go to different country's and the two presenters have to flip the coin to see who will live on a small budget and who will live on ten thousand I think it's for two days.
It's really interesting to see what they can both do, the one with the lower amount normally finds the really interesting things to do and learns more about the culture.

One thing you could do is ask your readers what they would like to see in your posts, or let them know where your heading and is there a special place they would like you to visit and document your travels for them.
This way your reaching out and interacting with your readers.

Wow. I never thought about it like that. Seriously you really explained that well, and to interact with my readers how you describe. I think I get it now, as I'm new to all this. It really is a form of entertainment, or should I say infotainment!

What an interesting show you describe as well. I'm going to have to look it up. Reminds me of my time in Medellin, Colombia. You can spend a lot of money in Tourist town "El Poblado" But your totally insulated from the real Colombia.

Speaking from experience; eating and mingling with the locals automatically puts you with the local budget which generally isn't much. However it gives you unforgettable cultural experiences that to me, make the destination special and unique, for better or for worse!

Thanks for you detailed response! Have a great day! Dan, World Travel Pro

Thanks, I don't know that much, just what I have learnt, not that great at explaining things.

Ye that's right you blog should be entertaining and knowledgeable for your readers.

You certainly know a lot more than I do! Thanks again for the insights!

Thank you, Your Welcome.

FOLLOWING You, Big Lips Mama! :*
