Mind Magic [1]: The 5 Minute Method For Unleashing Creative Brilliance

in #blog7 years ago

Welcome to Mind Magic, a series of Steemit posts designed to show you how to immediately alter your mind by asking yourself simple questions. These questions are intended to activate specific aspects of your memory and imagination, in order to inspire and empower you to take action in brand new and exciting ways.

You know what really sucks?

When you are in the mood to create or you have time to create something special, but for some damn reason, there’s just a void within your mind.

Nothing seems to be coming to you and you're just stuck sitting there doing nothing and wondering what the hell happened.

Are you familiar with this experience?

I know I am. It's probably one of the most frustrating things a human can experience, especially as a content creator.

The interesting thing about the mind is that it requires very subtle shifts in perspective in order to activate parts of ourselves that, at the time, feel miles and miles away.

In this Mind Magic episode, I'm going to show you how to make that subtle adjustment so that you can immediately tap into your creativity and begin producing content like the bad ass creative mofo you know you are.

The Dreamer, The Realist, and The Tester

If we broke down the concept of creativity we could break it down into three specific types of perception. Dreaming, realizing, and testing.

1. The Dreamer

The Dreamer is like that part of you that is always stoned off his ass, dreaming of things far out of this world with much passion and wonder. The Dreamer is the part of you who is completely detached from the earth or anything that is logical.

The Dreamer believes in things that most of the time aren't even doable, yet occasionally the Dreamer comes up with an idea that changes the world forever. Without the Dreamer we would be living in a truly boring reality. The Dreamer is there to pull out possibilities so that the Realest can make sense of them.

2. The Realist

Speaking of the Realist, this is the second aspect of creative thought. The Realest is like the Dreamer's mom who abruptly wakes up the Dreamer with a slap upside the head, pushing him out the door to head to school.

The Realist is the perspective that takes an idea and puts it down on paper in a way that is structured, logical, and can actually be utilized in the real world. The Realist takes the ideas of the Dreamer and creates a logical plan to execute them in order to ultimately receive feedback and knowledge.

3. The Tester

That feedback and knowledge is governed by our third perspective, which is the Tester. The Tester is the critical thinker and the one that judges what is actually working and what is actually not. It is the robot that makes decisions based on the facts.

There are no middle grounds here - it's either working, or it's not. This perspective is seeing what is and responding to that. It evaluates the plan, critiques what has happened, and moves forward from there.

How This Works

Now that you understand the three perspectives that we're working with, we are going to access each of these perspectives so that we can ultimately use them to cultivate a creative explosion.

I will be asking you a variety of a questions. Be sure to read each question, search your mind for the answer, then either say the answer out loud to yourself or write it down.

Got? Cool. Here we go!

First we're going to activate the dreamer...

Have you ever creatively dreamed or fantasized ideas without any hesitation or an inhibitions?

Can you think of a time when that happened?

When was that and what was that like for you?

Recall the experience and really step into it as though you were there again.

What were you looking at, what were you feeling, what were you hearing?

Once you have immersed yourself into that experience, we're going to shift our perspective to that of the realist...

Can you think of a time when you were being extremely realistic about something?

What was it like to think and act realistically?

What did it feel like to act in a realistic way?

How did you look at things?

What did you say?

Once you fully tuned into that experience, will move to the Tester...

Have you ever engaged in some kind of critical thinking that allowed you to test out an idea?

Have you ever created a plan to test to see if it actually works in the real world?

What was your state of mind and emotion when you did that?

Now I want you to imagine that there's three parts of you standing next to each other. Imagine that you're floating up above the Dreamer, Realist, and Tester. Separate yourself from all three identities and just float above them.

Now ask yourself...

What do you want to be more creative about?

With that question in mind we're going to go back into the 3 different perspectives in order to unleash your creativity with our desired outcome in mine.

I want you to imagine that you float back down into your dreamer self. I want you to see from the perspective of your dreamer.

What do you see right now?

What does your Dreamer self think about this aspect of creativity that you want to unleash?

Now float up above the dreamer and float back down into the Realist.

As a Realist, what actions do you need to take right now?

How should you implement your vision?

Now flow back up from the Realist and float back down into the Tester.

Ask yourself, what will work and what will not work?

What do you still need to add to the plan or process?

What resources are improvements would enrich it?

Well done! You have successfully completed the Mind Magic sequence.

Now that you have, take the advice that your Dreamer, Realist, and Tester gave you and implement it now.

If you ever get stuck along the way, don't be afraid to ask those three part of yourself for guidance as you move forward, create, and bring forth strange and brilliant new creations!

Now go create epic shit!
