Adventure Reading #2: "The Dead Student", funny translations and a cold morning.

Here we go again, I definitely love this idea brought by @therovingreader, so when she said she was doing another one I decided to look for an actual adventure.

This was harder than it looks like, since I realized I hardly go to places where it would be nice to take pictures until have I remember I had to go to classes last saturday.

So, lest begin with this :)

I had to go to classes all saturdays for two whole semesters for sport classes and I was really happy when I actually finished them since it meant "NO MORE ALARMS ON SATURDAYS"... Until I noticed I had remaining credit units so I could take a subject from the 6th semester (I am on the 5th one). I didn't the class will be on saturday mornings until the day I had to make my class schedule. Since I said that I was taking that subject a friend of mine who did his schedule the day before, signed up for class but didn't told me to about the hour the class was. Since it was my fault that he singed up a class on saturdays at 8:00 a. m., I had to take the class too.

Waking up at 5:40 a.m. on saturdays to make it on time it's not fun, even more if you went to sleep at 1:00 a.m.

Saturday classes have the less students, so it's a nice moment to read, since you don't have that much noise around you. The only moment where I had to stopped was when two people sat with next me... Their voices were so loud that I couldn't focus the way I wanted.

Happily, that day all my friends arrive a little late so they didn't interrupt my reading. I love them but I wanted to be alone that one hour of waiting -class was at 8:30 a.m. I arrived a 7:20 a.m. since a friend who had classes early give a ride-.

For some reason I like this pictures more than the ones I took first.

My rating: Since I started it for this contest I can give an actual rate but, so far it's a 3.5.

So far, Moth's history is my favorite thing in the book. I mean, 99 days without drinking and on your 100 day the person that has helped you the most who has never show any problems suddenly kills himself? Nice way to start a book. With Andrea's story I am still a little confused on what happened to her but I am just starting the book.

The first work by John Katezanbach I read was "State of Mind", a gift from a old friend of when I turned 15. Since, I had read 3 of his works (coming 4), being my favorite so far "What Comes Next". John's writing has something that makes you feel you're watching tv show were you want to know what happens next, this feeling it's even bigger if the books is wrote from different perspectives (like State Of Mind).

Why did I add funny translations on the title? Simple.

For some reason, John Katzenbach books have the funniest title translations I've seen since I started reading. While looking for the goodreads page from this book, I've noticed that it is "The dead Student"... In spanish? is "The Student". The english titles give the book another perspective that spanish titles don't do.

Another example of this it's "What Comes Next". To me this it's actually the funniest one. In the book, "What Comes Next" is the name of deep web page where we see what the kidnappers do to Jennifer. For some reason, it was translate it to "The Professor" in spanish. "State of Mind" is "Wit Games" and "The Shadow Man" it's only "The Shadow".

I never understood why some title translations are like this. To me, this type of translation make the book some part of its history, and the reason I found them funny its because they sound more like a soup opera name than a title book.

At least the actual translations are good ♥

Pero esa clase de Estadística... bueno, menudo tostón. ¿Cómo fuiste a parar ahí? ¿Que tiene eso que ver con un doctardo en Historia de Estados Unidos? Incitaría a cualquiera a la bebida.
