Learning From Children Can Happen At the Merry Go Round

in #blog7 years ago

This morning, I went to the playground with the kids. They had been asking to, every single day so I knew we just had to go today otherwise I would be getting the nagging the whole day again.

It was already hot at 9.00am, just a clear sign that summer is really just around the corner. HELLO, SUNSHINE!

We went to the Garden Park, the one that was just behind my office building. The kids loved the slides there. Eversince they came here last December, they had a special preference to this playground.

It was really very sunny though, the kind that scorched the skin. A few minutes later, they asked to go to the other side of the park with a shaded playground.

There, we found a bunch of other kids playing on the swings and slides. My Little Monster immediately tried to get up the slide. To be honest, it was too high for him.

See that small fella at the rightmost side of the picture? That's Little Monster!

Little Monster wanted to go up, using the hanging bridge. My heart lept out of my chest as he was already ahead of me and I was afraid he'd fall from the wobbly steps. True enough, he almost fell. Thanks to his great reflexes he was able to hold on tightly and I reached him on time. He was convinced after a while that this part was not for him, so he moved to the roped ladder and was up effortlessly.

Little Miss and Kuya on the other hand needed less supervision since they were more agile and balanced. One minute I was scared they'd trip over the high, thin beams then breathe a sigh of relief after they crossed successfully.

In between hanging ang sliding, the kids went to the merry go round. The first time, Little Monster looked like he was going to fall so I sat there with them while another Mum spinned the thing around.

Bad move on my end, coz I was really dizzy. I could even feel myself spinning up to now.

Where have all the mummas gone?!

If there was anything else I noticed earlier apart from the every agile and active kids, it was the fact that the Dads out numbered us Mums. I love seeing hands on dads who take time to play with their children. I know this gesture would be in their kids' memories forever.

Dads patiently rolling their babies on the stroller, guiding them down the slide or even joining the playtime. Warms the heart, doesn't it?

Lessons from kids?

Children's hearts are just so big, we need to learn from them. I remember this kid from this morning, he saw Kuya panting and breathing hard after running up and down. He told his dad, "He is tired daddy. We need to give him water!" A few minutes later, I even saw him sharing his donut to the other kids on the merry go round with him. Nice kid, eh? Very selfless.

Another thing is their confidence. Why are they not afraid? Looking up from the ground, I was always petrified at how high the slides and beams were. I doubted whether they could cross the obstacles. Wait, didn't I teach them to be confident? Then I must trust that they trust themselves.

Kids yearn for attention. There was this baby who would call, "Dada!!!" before going down the slide. He would beam with delight as you cheer on him. Cute, right?!

Summer is fast approaching, I am thinking how best to spend the rest of the great weather. What do you think?!

I like sun!

Hello, friend of your article I was struck by several things but the main one is that in the park there were many parents taking care of their children and that seems great to me, since today a lot of moms work and the only role we previously fulfilled It has been shared with parents, which is very beneficial for our children since they spend much more time with their parents and the experiences that live together will be recorded forever in their minds, making them healthier, more prepared, with more self-esteem and more courageous. Thank you for sharing your experience and I invite you to visit my blog because I just joined this community of steemmama and I publish things related to this beautiful art of educating, and I start to follow you! regards!!

Hey there @lasocia! Thanks for reading! We just really need to find time to do activities like these with kids since our daily routine mainly comprises of work and kids are normally just kept inside the home if not in school.

Great to be out having fun in the sun, it's good the play area is shaded so it doesn't get too hot. Kids definitely have no fear, but they also learn very quick when something hurts them not to do it again!
