Gareth Bale is Real Madrid's forgotten hero in the 2017/2018 season. With far less number of appearances than Cristiano Ronaldo, the former world's most expensive player has been able to score in equal numbers with Ronaldo.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player has just been in starting line up player seven times but has been able to collect six goals. Compare with Ronaldo who needs to play fifteen times to reach that number of goals. Unfortunately, Bale faces the threat of injury almost every time.

Bale did experience a difficult time at Real Madrid 2016/2017 last season. He spent most of the season in the treatment room due to a calf and ankle injury. He only appeared 17 times in La Liga, although still able to score seven goals.

However, it is not just the injury that worries the supporters of Los Blancos to this 28-year-old player. Last season, he was censured by speculation that he was unhappy in Spain and wanted to return to the Premier League.

Time and time again it was rumored that Bale's future in Real Madrid became erratic. Bale's position is also constantly threatened due to increased performance of Marco Asensio, Isco Alarcon, and Lucas Vazquez.

This year, Bale has consistently been linked with the English clubs reported as serious buyers. After Manchester United are rumored to need him, now Chelsea also began to be involved. Bale is also badly needed by his country, Wales, if only playing reserve at Real Madrid, would be very detrimental.
