Let me start by saying "Hello, my fellow steemers, Hope all is well" and If anyone remembers me at all you would have noticed that recently I have began uploading videos to youtube.
Videos that have consisted of random content based on animals and well, New York City scenery. Now, I started my channel "The Struggle" a few years ago. But kept it on standby for when I ever I felt the need to start using it. To be fair, I made a channel with an idea in mind but couldn't grasp how to make it work. My idea being to allow me a platform where I wouldn't be constricted to just one genre. Pretty much a place where I could share what ever I wanted in what ever format I pleased.
It's also worth nothing that when I first began this channel I wanted to create a relatable name that was easy to remember. But youtube at the time was capping down on channels being able to use names for their sites. So when you creating a profile you were restricted to using a long URL filled with random numbers and letters. Restricting users to being another newbie instead building off of the name you wanted to use. So this kind of deterred me from uploading anything off the bat.
I knew at some point that community would become vocal about it enough that it would be fixed. Fortunately, I was right and as of yesterday I can finally be found on youtube when anyone looks up The Struggle.
Not that anyone randomly would but at least if I give the name some recognition, those who choose to search will find me.
Now, as for view counts as you can see one of my videos is a prime example of how much of a slow start I got off too.
The first place I decided to share these videos was on steemit of course. But even after doing so there wasn't much a difference and I was lucky to get a couple of new views at best. The usual tech tactic for when you post anything online is to share your content on both Facebook and Google Plus. It's what is required these days in order to make your posts search engine friendly, which I haven't even started to do yet. But one thing I have implemented was the blog strategy that many big youtuber's happen to use.
Which helped me boost the exposure of my videos in about a day or so.
It's worth noting that this of course would require downloading the wordpress app which makes it convenient to support and find support on there. Allowing the potential to simply upload videos and leave it on auto pilot as one uses the wordpress app to promote your video blog for views. I consider it a good alternative to build up a community outside of the actual video platform in order to separate the fanbase from let's say the video site going down someday.
A creator should always be in control of that and this is one way to build up to the point online where you can have 50,000 followers like I do.
Once you have everything in play and you've created the free blog on wordpress. Make sure to tag your posts and follow certain tags like in the photo above. This allows you to find people to connect to on a daily basis by following genres and seeing what people post in those categories. You can choose them from your settings when joining online and adding the most active tags. Meaning, posts that pop up on after another within minutes or even seconds in the tag feed. Any dead tags would show a post at the top was created like a day or two ago. So steer clear from those and chose what ever category you like so you can get out there.
You would be surprised to know what kind of exchange you get in return. Because as you can see I was able to create a small turn around in a couple of days by doing this. Outside of that make sure to tag what ever site you want those users to click on in your profile. This would fall under the choose your main site category so when they click on your profile picture it takes them there automatically. Which is pretty cool since you can make a number of wordpress sites and choose to revolve them around when ever you want to promote it.
If your asking how do you promote it's simple: Like and comment on other posts in the tag categories you follow and the same will come back to you naturally.
So lets recap with an overview:
Sign up for wordpress online and create a free URL blog
Manage what tags you want to follow, upload a photo and submit your main wordpress site to your profile
When you post anything there make sure to add metatags comparable to the ones you follow, a couple of generic good tags to start with are (Blogs and Follow) along with the category your content relates too.
Download the wordpress app and get out there and start liking, following and commenting on stuff, liking is sometimes enough.
Embed every single video manually into each post or upgrade your URL for paid subscription for an easy add on.
Though its not required, if you prefer to give your new blog an automatic boost to search engines. Submit your URL manually to google sumbit url. It's an metatag webmaster tool that allows your site to be crawled and ranked based on your posts exposure. Which is pretty awesome six months after your websites probationary period ends . Google happens to value videos on blogs for some apparent reason.
Just google "Google Submit URL" it will ask you to sign in with a gmail account and this page will pop up. Submit it and if you want to go even a step further use that same gmail to sign up to "Google Webmaster Tools". Where you can get a metatag code that you can paste into your blog and link them together for faster online indexing.
Well, that's all I have for today and if you'd like to check out what I made of the channel and the blog. You can see a video and click the blog link below.
Why doesn't this have any views, votes and replies?
Thank you for noticing thetimminator, It's a pretty narrow wall in terms of trying to get content out there but it's members like you that keep the dream alive. Thank you again!
