THE LADY WITH THE GOLDEN HEART !
There are many dog lovers in the World. But this lady is an example of herself. An old Indian lady, aged around 65 years, who herself is a poor rag-picker in New Delhi feeds over 400 dogs every day.
Pratima Devi has dedicated her life to look after the stray dogs. What a wonderful work she is doing !
After a troubled marriage, she got separated from her husband and came to stay in the shanty in South Delhi. It was here she found love, loyalty, and happiness in these dogs. 120 dogs stay with her in her shanty. She cooks food for the dogs herself. It has become a routine for Pratima Devi to cook 12 kg of rice and 5 kg of meat for their lunch every day. Dogs are fed with 10 liters of milk daily for breakfast. The other dogs she feeds are the stray dogs in and around the place she stays.
Pratima Devi spends her whole day feeding and nursing the injured dogs. In her own words, she said-''Taking care of these dogs has become my religion.'' She is lovingly called as "AMMA" by her neighborhood, where she is staying from the last three decades. She feels proud of what she does. She says that her dogs never bite. They are properly vaccinated and sterilized by the civic body.
AMMA has worked as a domestic help in model turned actor Rahul Dev's home. But had to leave this job due to some reasons. Later she started a tea stall and had to close that too. Now she is a rag picker. Despite earning only RS 150 per day, she manages food for her dogs. She is helped by a young neighbor VIVEK, who also loves dogs. Both wake up at 6 am and provide the breakfast i .e milk for the dogs. Around 12 again , they are given lunch and finally at 11 pm, the dogs are fed with the dinner.
Amma's high spirits, compassion, and dedication has led her to achieve what she wanted to. Now she has also started getting donations in cash and kind to feed the dogs.
As it is rightly said --''Dog's are Men's best Friend'', this surely applies here.
She is a lady with Golden heart, a pure soul who loves her dogs more than anything in the world. Her sons are calling her to live with them , but she is just not willing to leave her dogs and go. She says she has only one worry in life i.e . Who will look after her 400 dogs when she is no more?
AMMA is called as "THE DOG LADY OF NEW DELHI".
Finally, I would salute this wonderful soul who is doing such awesome work. Her love and Compassion for dogs is amazing. HATS OFF to this great lady. Not many people in this world are as pure as she is.
