Generally it is believed that there are about 10 thousand migrations in the country. But the leader of the Hijra Abul Hossain told Dew Vale, that the number of them in the whole country will not be less than 40 thousand. He further said, they have been victims of gender discrimination these days. Due to lack of legal recognition of women outside of the male or female, they are deprived of basic and civil rights.

They are denied employment, schooling and even franchise. Because to get these benefits, it is common law to be male or female. But none of the hijraara women or men. So Abul Hossain thinks that the recognition of their sexes will save them from their deprivation.
