More often than not your mind is clouded with a lot of options on different matters in no particular order, doubt of your abilities and frustration on not achieving your set goals and as a result of your comfortable situation, you tend to keep pushing the important decisions further away. Procrastination becomes your very good friend.

It is this particular situation that really justifies why an eagle pushes its young out of the nest; they're young, strong and capable but they get fed and protected by their parents (comfortable). So, in order for them to achieve their potential they get pushed out from great height and this life or death situation gives them the required clarity as regards what to be done; start flying.

Some people are fortunate in that they don't require such situations to get them on the right track. They know exactly what they want and pursue it vigorously.

However, there's the other bunch that need a jolt because even if they know what they should do, they don't really take action as they're clouded with many different choices with no definite plan. Not talking about the lazy ones that don't want to do anything (those exist too), and it's a very easy pit to fall into.

I presume we all should have our methods of gaining clarity; it could be anything from running, yoga, travelling, baking, writing, listening to music, making lists or just straight out putting ourselves in a situation that requires us making quick decisions.
