World Cup 2018 starts rolling June 14. The biggest football competition in the world is followed by 32 teams, who will compete for trophies.
The trophy became a symbol and a symbol of pride for the champion. Here are some facts about the contested trophy already 1930.
- Nike Goddess
The first World Cup was named by third FIFA President, Julies Rimet. The French-born president became the man responsible for creating and hosting the World Cup tournament, after he qualified in a vote to begin the global football championship in 1929.

In 1966 precisely on March 22, 1966 the trophy disappeared when exhibited at Westminster Central Hall, England, 4 months before the host country tournament. This trophy is worth £ 30,000.
Two days later after the theft, the English Football Association (FA) received a packet from an unknown person containing the top of the trophy and a letter with a message from a thief who wanted a ransom of € 15,000 for the trophy to be returned.
The FA and the British police devised a strategy to trap the thief and ultimately succeed. On March 27, the alleged actor was named Edward Betchley, but Edward's capture did not reveal the whole truth and the existence of the trophy.

For the 1974 championship, a new trophy was designed and made, after receiving many designs, eventually one winner was selected.
The winner is an Italian sculptor named Silvio Gazzaniga. One of the two designs he sent was chosen to be the winner. He later became the UEFA Cup designer and the UEFA Super Cup.
The World Cup trophy is made of 18 carat gold and is based on malasite, and depicts two human figures holding the earth. The winning country team will be carved in the bottom of the trophy.
The cup is usually kept by the winning team, but it is no longer done. Now the winners receive a gold-plated bronze replica. The original World Cup trophy was kept at the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich, Switzerland.
