Sorry, BlockTrades. You are fast and easy, but at what price?
This is a common tactic.
Charge a small fee, but then quote prices way off in order to clean up.
Changelly does it. Shapeshift does it. Neither of them change Steem though.

The above accounts for money in and money out according to their quote. I did not look at any fee they might charge. I did not click next or get the deposit address. Just money in and money out = Over 6% for Blocktrades.
People, please check before you trade.
Having an integrated exchange on Steemit is nice! It gives them the opportunity to short you on your Steem, then jack up the coin they are selling you.
This is grade school math. Even Burger King employees can make change. Short enough customers and they post about it on their blogs. Here's me doing that.
I guess I will have to chance it and make an account with some hackable xxxx.com exchange in order to get a fair price. Lots of clicks while signing up, confirming the account, depositing, trading, withdrawing, but worth it.
I will let you know how much I get.

Ah damn, so blocktrades is deliberately misrepresenting coin values in order to scam you on the exchange rate? Reminds me of the street corner dollar-to-peso guys here in Buenos Aires

Yo he utilizado Blocktrades para realizar un intercambio mucho mas rápido, en ese momento me ha sido muy beneficioso. Creo que lo mas conveniente es utilizar un sitio de intercambio y realizar compra/venta pa ganar y amortizar los intereses. Gracias por la información.

They are not charging that much, but they are making that much. It is the equivelent of buying a burger for $10, paying with $100, and getting $82 back in your change. The cash register ticket says you were charged a fair price, but the cashier can now grab $7 from the drawer.
I transfered mine to a friend's bittrex account and he is changing it over for me. I will update this post with the fair amount I got after trading fees, transfer fees, etc.
I do not recommend any exchange that is owned by someone who simply bought a web site. (to clarify)

yeah, i noticed that earlier. but as i am new to steemit i wasn't able to find any other option to exchange. they are kind of robbing us.
Can anyone suggest any other exchange option?
