Most people consider shipping a boring industry, saying nothing interesting ever happens there, but have you ever imagined a world where freight or air delivery didn’t exist? in some way we would all be so much poorer.
In real sense, there's no other industry as important, think about it - over 80% of the world's freight is transported using the sea. That’s close to everything. Listen to this globalshipping video below.

So today I’d love to shout out a company that might never get invited over to the 'fun' side but that's doing its part to get us all to the other side. See what i did there? Anyway the company I’m talking about is called the Global shared container platform, a Danish company founded with one goal, to make shipping by sea a more efficient process for freight companies. By wisely utilizing blockchain technology and smart contracts to let companies know all the progress with their assets as well as tracing all the container movements in real time.
This process isn't simple, every structural level within the entire system needs to work in perfect harmony – from the sensor technology, to the asset register, to communication gateways, to the internal tokens, right through to companies’ business process systems. It's quite the process, so let's explore the different technologies powering the systems.

  1. Blockchain automation - To make sure the GSCP platform was built on a solid technology framework, one that's open source, the engineering team went over different frameworks looking for one that ticked all the boxes. One that's scalable, secure and light. The team eventually settled on a permissioned blockchain, which uses a different network that gives individuals the ability to validate blocks of transactions. The system allows members from different walks of life to co-exist on one platform and use the GSCP tokens to make payment transactions without ever associating in person or needing an intermediary, this can happen because of the distributed and transparent environment the management has cultivated.

  2. To ensure the real time tracking is always available and online, GSCP uses Global Terminal Operators - to capitalize on smart ports, which is a unique technology that transforms all the ports at public services into an interactive connected system to handle instant updates pushed through APIs from the cargo crew, the custom departments and the head office. GTO enables seamless collaboration between important parties of the shipping process, truckers, customs, carriers etc. all this happens through the platforms network. The combination of GTO and smart ports also make it possible implement the greybox and street-turn strategies meant to effectively manage how empty containers are handled and how they can be exploited to reduce income lost making shipments.

  3. Sensor technology - The idea is to take advantage of more affordable tech to turn shipping containers 'smart' to open up entirely new dimensions of transportation monitoring and management. To connect with the container remotely, the system functions by creating a unique interface between the network within the container and external ports. Working in tandem with the sensors are digitized CSC plates, that not only show the container is consistently inspected and has passed the safety approval test for freight handing, on paper but all records are stored inside GSCP's tamper proof system.

  4. Embracing empty container repositioning - Imbalances in trade might be the biggest explanation why empty containers still exist in a worldwide economy. A nation that imports more than it sends out will face a shortage of empty containers whereas a nation that imports more than it trades prompts a deficiency. If such an imbalance takes a lot of time, a repositioning strategy will need to happen, the GSCP platform allows institutions to effectively manage the empty containers by letting the select the perfect container to be repositioned, according to internal pricing of course. In the long run destinations with a low container count will incentivized to bring in the empty containers to serve their ports, the platform also gives users the ability to create smart contracts just in case the containers need to be leased for more revenue.

this is a Genius way to save a lot of money and also kind of save the environment.
The basic aim is to make sure that after a container ships a cargo it is not then dumped or returned empty. Another shipping company can use the same container to ship another loads and at the same time the container owner can follow his container on the blockchain to keep inventory and also know the exact location of each of the container.

Just a brilliant idea i wouldn't have thought of myself so kudos to the team

This is such a detailed reply. Thank you for reading my blog and giving a positive feedback. I really appreciate

Infrastructure especially shipping is an integral part of it. This is a very good project to advance shipping as a whole

@Faithmukopi Its very tru. I am really waiting the transformation and as a conservationist, i am happy that they are trying to conserve and save the environment
