Before we get into what makes Blockshipping a game changer in the shipping industry, I’d like to talk about why the shipping industry needs blockshipping. Now, like every other industry, the shipping industry has its problems. What are these problems? This registry would be able to track 27 million shipping containers in real time using sensor technology, it would enable the shipping industry save an estimated amount of $5.7billion in a year by efficient handling of the intermodal freight containers, in addition it would reduce global carbon dioxide [CO2] emissions by at least 4.6million tons and mono nitrogen oxides [NOx] emissions by 4,900 tons yearly, there’s also the creation of a trusted shared platform where surplus or deficit matching of containers can take place and also serve as a platform for handling payments between stakeholders that handle containers physically.
Personally, I believe what makes blockshipping a game changer is its introduction of the GSCP [Global Shared Container Platform]. Its purpose is to provide ‘the world's first online blockchain enabled ship register’ where the all the containers in the globe are registered and each of these containers would have real time locators, while the goal is to have registered 16million contains [60%] in 3-4 years and become the primary registry and the operational payment platform for the global shipping fleet. With the intent to be resizeable, controlled, pliable, private and safe, the GSCP will be developed on a private blockchain.
With all the problems and complicated processes that the shipping industry face on a global scale in recent times, its obvious that the introduction and application of the blockshipping GSCP blockchain based technology will make a great impact on the shipping industry and solve some of its most important problems.
