The police of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh ordered all hotels to install a new blockchain registry system, developed by the local start-up Zebi. It is planned that later the novelty will appear in hotels throughout the country, reports CoinDesk.

As stated in the description of the project, the system combines the technology of blockchain and artificial intelligence to collect and store data about visitors to hotels. According to the developers, such a mechanism will not only simplify the process for customers, but also help prevent potential criminal activity.

So, the collected information will be checked against the police database of criminals and missing persons and will help to determine whether a particular visitor has a criminal past.

According to the creators, the system, called Zebi AI Chain, has already been installed in more than 200 hotels, including The Park, Taj Gateway and Novotel.

The deputy commissioner of the region Vizag Fakirappa Kaginelli confirmed that the installation of a new solution is mandatory for all hotels in this area.

"All hotels are ordered to enter data on the placement of customers. Already 230 establishments use this system. It allows real-time monitoring of criminals and their antisocial activities. So far, such cases have not been recorded, "- said Caginelli.

As the newspaper notes, in accordance with Indian law, hotels are required to provide police daily personal information of their guests.

"Usually they do this manually, which can lead to abuse during transportation and storage of securities. In addition, the processing of documents takes a very long time, "- said the executive director and founder of Zabi Babu Munagala.

He also added that "private and sensitive" guest information is stored in the Zebi AI Chain system in an "unchanged format". At the same time, it is noted that access to these data is possible only with the permission of customers.

The Park Hotel Manager Nagesh Kumar Venkata added that in the past the police regularly visited hotels to check the status of tourists and their history, but "now it is not necessary."

Speaking of plans for the future, representatives of Zabi noted that the startup is preparing for a "full-scale launch in all hotels in India."
