If it wasn’t for science, how would this world look like?

Scientific research and its publication models have proved to have many limitations today. Even though this industry is known to be massive (we’re talking about billions of dollars), there is still not enough money invested in conducting research. This does not only affect the scientific community but as science is a significant aspect of our life, it can represent a negative impact on everyone – take the healthcare sector, for instance.

If we don’t invest the money (which we already have) in medical research, we can't find the right treatment for a particular disease. Orvium, a publication platform, has the mission to eliminate these inefficiencies of the scientific publishing.

Blockchain technologies would support the Orvium project and as decentralised storage, it would provide a thoroughly public and trustworthy record of publication the process at minimal costs. Therefore, science is made more transparent and open to everyone to access, as each piece of relevant information about publishing, like journal submissions or peer reviews, would be registered and stored on the blockchain. Orvium would be the centre of activity for researchers, articles, publishers, scientists, authors and so on.

To support the global research, Orvium would establish an unbiased, comprehensive and competitive business model. This would enable a fair recognition, and it would also ensure that all participants would get their deserved reward (authors, peer reviewers, publishers, editors, etc.).

Decentralized Autonomous Journals

On the platform, journals will be controlled by smart contracts, which allow open and transparent management. These come with some rules, made publicly available and defined in the smart contract. Based on these rules and contributions, users can earn revenue, by offering ORV tokens and receiving Journal Tokens.
