Major inventions of man
Man is regarded as the social animal because of his ability to think and take steps wisely.
Other animals almost process the same organs as we do have but what really makes us superior is our ability to act wisely.
Our earth is 3.5 billion years old and compared to those 3.5 billion years man has only lived a fraction of that but the advancements man has made have been tremendously huge.
Let's take a look at some greatest inventions of all time
Wheel
The first invention that comes to mind is of course of a wheel.
The first wheel was invented in 3500 B.C and it was purely a stroke of genius.
The invention of wheel brought revolutionary change in the man's life he no longer had to travel far off places by foot or on a horse.
Compass
Compass changed the life of travellers once and for all.
With compass man was able to locate the directions where he wanted to go.
Compass was invented somewhere between 9th and 11th century by Chinese people.
Another masterclass from some unknown personality.
Printing Press
Johannes Gutenberg of Germany was the man behind printing press.
He invented the printing press in 1440 and it is because of him that we are able to read printed books and newspapers.
Bulb
Thomas Edison was the man behind an electric bulb.
He is the light to the world in the dark
I can't even imagine what people did when there was no electricity.
There were two dozen people behind the invention of electric bulb but Thomas Edison created a fully functional electric bulb and therefore took the credit in 1879.
Telephone
The era of electronic communication began with the invention of telephone.
Though many people were trying to transfer voice through electronic media but it was Alexander Graham Bell who was successful and was awarded a patent in 1876.
The invention of telephone marked the start of electronic communication.
The U.S Government stopped the telephone service for one minute on August 2nd 1992 to honour the death of great Graham Bell.
Internet
Perhaps the greatest invention of the 20th century, Internet was invented in 1960's by countless people but the real credit goes to Lawrence Roberts.
With the advent of internet, communication industry was taken by storm and it has become one of the necessities of life.
With the introduction of internet came promises, some of which have been achieved and some are still at a distance.
Most people will say that the above inventions have changed the way of our lives and I agree too.
But I would like to add one more invention which will make greater impact than the above listed inventions.
The invention I am talking about is Blockchain.
Blockchain was invented in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto who is credited as the first person who invented first digital currency 'Bitcoin'.
Blockchain is capable of solving almost every mystery of the universe and can help create wonders.
Blockchain can be utilised in every walk of life.
A few people are aware of this amazing technology but slowly blockchain is going to rule the world and the steps are being taken by many governments to utilise this great invention.
Blockchain is the next big thing..

How about Louis Pasteur or Madame Curie? I know you can’t put everyone, but maybe there are just a few more who could go in.... Archimedes, Leonardo da Vinci, the Wright brothers.....
Usually the media does not see the brilliant potential of new inventions.
When Thomas Edison invented the “Electric Light” the newspapers said that “despite his mountain of promises, he has produced but a mouse of a light”
Here below is a cutting from an 1870’s newspaper saying that the holders of shares in gas-lighting companies have nothing to fear from Thomas Edison’s “electric light”.
The second article informs us that the electric lighting test on Waterloo Bridge are 3 months from extinction as they cannot compete with gas lighting.

I know I left some big inventions and I think I should write another post to cover those.
Writing about all the major inventions should have made this post of monstrous length but I could have written two or maybe 3 posts.
Along with the ones you pointed out, I think the invention of automobiles and computers will also find their way in the top inventions.

I think media wasn't really excited about the invention of electric bulb by Edison.

Yes, these Edison Electric Light articles are from some old newspapers that I purchased in a junk shop. It’s 6 months worth of the London illustrated weekly from 1879.
The weekly science section is very interesting as are the parliament debates on topics like the following:
Should women be allowed to be doctors?
Is breach of (marriage) promise subject to imprisonment or just a fine?
Should children be stopped from buying revolvers and other guns?
Should they make it illegal to drive a Hackney carriage (a horse drawn taxi) while drunk?
The court cases are also interesting. Mixed in with the usual rash of murders and thefts are cases which made the law as we know it today. Particularly painful was the case of the collapse of a Scottish bank in the 1870s, where executors and trustees who were shareholders and acting out of pure benevolence were held to be liable to to total extent of their wealth and not just the trust funds or estate of the deceased.
The reason was the bank had issued shares but it was not a Limited Liability Company. Shareholders were held liable for their whole wealth even when they had acquired the shares in a fiduciary capacity or inherited them on the death of a relative.
That common law decision is still valid in all Common Law countries today.

It is really painful to see even today in some societies women face restrictions in one way or the other.
We have come a long way and the laws have changed for good but there might still be some ignorant law makers around the world making stupid laws.

I think it was the Egyptians who created the concept of wheel for their chariots. I kind of remember reading it somewhere.

These inventions indeed made us distinct from others, including our ancestors. What's next? Blockchain + AI or something else totally?
Well who knows what is next except the investor but the way humans are progressing, we will see some more fascinating things in future for sure.
These great investions have greatly impacted the whole world, take an example of a phone, we now walk with small powerful computers that are a window to the rest of the world
Blockchain provides independence in the individual, great contribution I congratulate you.
