RE: Blocks for Good - Humanitarian Applications of Blockchain Review #1 - AID:Tech
Hi @andy.cline! Yes, AID:Tech was working with the Irish Red Cross who were in charge of fund raising and working with the communities, including beneficiary selection. They would have distributed the vouchers to the refugees anyway, but they partnered with AID:Tech to test this out using blockchain. I don't remember which blockchain was used, but I don't think it was bitcoin - perhaps it was AID:Tech's own blockchain? Not sure.
In terms of donors, I'm not sure about this either, but pilots like this are often funded out of the organizations institutional funds - my guess is that it came out of the pot of private donations to the Irish Red Cross as any country donor (Ireland, US, UK, etc.) probably would have their name stamped all over this, as "innovation" is always something that donors like to take credit for :)
thanks for the follow up. I disappeared for a bit, good to get that additional background.
No worries and welcome back!
