BLOCKSHIPPING – CONNECTING SHIPPING INDUSTRY WITH BLOCKCHAIN
Overview
Denmark country is known as the world’s best leader in the maritime industry. It is around 70% of ship engines designed by Denmark which are installed on vessels worldwide. Danish based company Blockshipping is now coming up with the solution for the shipping industry by introducing blockchain technology. They are developing a platform which is called Global Shared Container Platform (GSCP). They are trying to achieve savings around $5.7 billion USD in shipping industry by avoiding the environmental impact of $4.6 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
GSCP Platform
In 2012 the total carbon dioxide emission in Denmark was 40.8 million tons. The GSCP platform is reducing this emission by eliminating 4.6 million tons of carbon dioxide. By introducing blockchain technology, Blockshipping is offering the real time information and visibility of process and payment between different parties. GSCP platform is placing a tracking device on every container to trace them and they are also providing Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) system which will ensure that the banks and insurance companies are informed when the containers are lost or stolen.
Problem & Solution
Today, the shipping industry is facing many problems where container accounts around 60% of all the world’s seaborne trade. By this shipping industry is facing challenges like overcapacity, low rates, security threats and increasing environmental regulations.
The solution where Blockshipping is come up with their GSCP platform to register around 27 million units’ containers with the blockchain. With the blockchain technology they will make container shipping industry more efficient by reducing the cost meaningfully. The transaction between different parties will be automated through the machine learning and AI technology. Fully transparent platform which allow every party to track their container shipment anytime. So, this will reduce the administration cost.
GSCP Token
This platform has two tokens as internal and external tokens named CPT and CCC respectively.
- Container Platform Token (CPT) – This is an internal token which will be used for carrying out transaction under the platform. The various services are being used through this token are container exchange fees, depot handling costs, fees received by carriers etc.
- Container Crypto Coin (CCC) – This is external revenue share token which will be sold publicly during the ICO and can be used in the secondary market. This token is shared as a reward token under their platform.

Verdict
There are 4 core members are in the leadership team who all are having 15+ or 20+ years of experience in IT, shipping industry. They all previously worked in many leading companies. There are 9 advisors on board behind this project who all are having strong experience in IT, Finance and shipping industry which helps them a lot.
It would be more better for this project if the team members and advisors are from blockchain background which is beneficiary for this project.
The Website is in well format way and explained in a good way which is very appealing. The Whitepaper is also explained in detail which is easy to understand.
The Roadmap is not explained in detail and not even well structured.
