GHANA HAS ALREADY EMBRACED THE BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY – FIRST DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF THE BANK OF GHANA
Many crypto investors fear the wrath of government of Ghana will soon be unleashed on them and whatever they have invested in will be confiscated, this fear erupted when the SEC in Ghana gave an order to Mensgold Gold Trading Company Halt its dealings in Ghana until they further notice.
On the 19th of September 2018, the CEO of BTC GHANA issued a statement for the bank of Ghana to come up with swift laws that will help regulate the use of Cryptocurrencies in Ghana. Notwithstanding this other entities which are well vested in this field has also been pushing for this same deal.
On the 21st September 2018, the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana held a round table discussion with industry players to discuss the future of the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency in Ghana.
During the meeting the ECRYPTOPAY Company a cryptocurrency Trading platform in Ghana, quizzed the Governor on what the Country’s Central Bank views are on Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies are.
“the Bank of Ghana still do not have any regulations enacted into law for cryptocurrencies and for this reason we cannot or do not have any power to regulate the trade and use of cryptocurrencies, and also there is no way they can issue licenses to companies who deals with cryptorelated activities”.
He then went on to tell the gathering that,
“If you trade with cryptocurrencies or do any dealings with it as we have no related regulations the only advice he can give is to deal with trusted cryptocurrency companies so you will not end up losing your trade to scams”
The team then went on to ask a follow up question,
“we are pleased with your response so far for the on the topic of cryptocurrency, but we then want to inquire of you what the country’s stands are on the underlying technology that powers CRYPTOCURRENCIES which is the BLOCKCHAIN”
“ the government of Ghana and the Central Bank has already EMBRACED THE BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY as we know it is a very powerful tool that we can use to hasten bank transactions, and we have ASSIGNED a team to STUDY this wonderful technology. The government is ready to work hand in hand with anyone company who wishes to work with us for the realization of this project”. He said
The ECRYPTOPAY team then said we are readily available to provide any help with the Bank of Ghana if they have been called upon.
