The situation at which some household found themselves is one of my greatest concerns. Many are not too comfortable to get what they wanted. With level of our exposures, there are still some elements of ignorance among the people irrespective of their educational status. Many people can not afford to buy expensive drugs and ended up buying fake ones.This is so sad and frustrating.
November, 29. 2013 was a memorable day when I visited hospital for my monthly Hospital Visitation Jamma (H. V. J). A young lady was rushed down to the hospital in a pool of blood. Series of thought ran through my mind on what could have warrants the situation she was into. There was no traces of accident. A later confirmation revealed that she did abortion with wrong dosage of fake drug. She does not pass through normal process because of her level or maybe poverty. Poverty is known to be rampant in developing countries.
When I got to the other ward, I found a woman watching her sick child dying. She was helpless. I was told the child had broken down since two weeks earlier but refused to be taken to the hospital Instead, she was being treated at home with wrong drugs which had made the condition to be severe. What a pity!

Many companies producing original drugs ran out at loss because most people cannot afford to buy expensive drugs. There were piracy everywhere making fake drugs which are extremely cheap
The victims of counterfeit drugs were the ignorant people, poor people. those people that does not have time to visit doctors for proper drug prescription.
It was discovered that up to 30% of all drugs in circulation are fake, which is resulting to about a million deaths annually, including 450,000 preventable deaths from malaria alone. Some of these deaths can be attributed directly to the toxic ingredients (such as rat poison, floor wax, industrial chemicals and the like) used to produce counterfeit drugs.Many more are a result of substandard drugs being sold to unsuspecting consumers, with little to no active ingredients present in drugs, which would otherwise have saved the consumers from preventable or curable diseases.)
The counterfeit drugs are drug products that are yet to be approved by the regulators, fail to meet quality standards or deliberately misrepresent an ingredient.

In 2013, WHO set up a voluntary global monitoring system for substandard and fake drugs and has received reports of about 1,500 problematic medicines including drugs that was claimed to treat heart problems diabetes, infertility problems, mental health issues and cancers)
A report on fake vaccines for diseases like meningitis and yellow fever was also gotten.
