I like the idea of coins/tokens that have built in affiliate systems. Bitshares is the only one I know of other than Dether. Steemit should implement some type of direct affiliate system. Having some type of affiliate system for Steemit would make older posts more valuable since they can attract new users. Old posts are somewhat abandoned after 7 days on Steemit since they no longer benefit their author.
