A Steemian Minnow "Oops" Hiccup - Trying to swim too fast too soon.
Yesterday through the power of Steemit I aquired my Bitcoin Wallet. Through Blockchain.info I signed up then used Blocktrades.us to complete the process from Steem dollars to Bitcoin. The process was easy and simple and I had @luzcypher whispering over my shoulder to guide me through the process. It sucks not being computer savy.
I transfered half my steemdollars into Bitcoin. Very easy and simple, it felt like I achieved a small accomplishment and I was happy. During the sign up process of obtaining my Bitcoin wallet, I was suppose to return a verification email reply. I didn't see or missed reading this and thus had the verification email expire. This meant I just transfered half my $ and left it sitting in limbo. I couldn't log in.
After scouring the Blockchain.info website I finally found the Support option I was searching for. I explained the situation and requested another verification link. 10 minutes later I had a reply with the link!
I was a bit worried for a second thinking I had screwed up big time and had lost the money I had made. So I'd like to give a shout out to Blockchain.info Support for the quick and appropriate response. "Thanks for having my back Homie."
This brings me to state the obvious but I feel it must be reiterated... Take your time when signing up (on any website)... review slowly because in your "noob" exciting, important information can be easily missed. Write down all of your passwords and keep them in a secure place. You are in control of everything... so don't be lazy! If you have questions that need answering the Steemit community is there to help as well! Fortunately I have @luzcypher as a Steemian roomate...thank God. (That last sentence is the weirdest thing I've ever written.)
As I explain and introduce crypto-currencies and Steemit to people that I meet, I do not want them to repeat my mistakes. I also have to take the time and be grateful that through these "noob" mistakes I am learning and progressing. I might stumble as I learn to walk... but this community will not let me fall.

One other important point @mithrilweed, it's safer to always start with a small test transaction, say, transfer just a few Steem to BTC. Once you see that it works as anticipated, simply rinse and repeat!
I wholeheartedly agree... I should've mentioned that in my post as it was a small amount I transfered... excellent observation.
Welcome to Steemit I wish you luck in your adventure down the cryptocurrency rabbit hole.
haha...tyvm...the Alice in Wonderland reference....way too profound and true!
Love It!! Honestly, I have $95 in a Bitcoin Wallet sitting out there on the blockchain, which I still have no idea how to recover! Something similar happened and I can't "understand" how to recover it. (Not having @luzcypher as a roommate) - lol. Not worried though, I've learned more since then.
Luzcypher sees all and hears all.
