Cheetah bot and isaac.asimov

in #blockchain8 years ago (edited)

I see that this annoying username isaac.asimov shows up in almost every post and is, obviously, considered as spam and so inactivated by Cheetah bot.

I can click on the username link and it takes me to the account. My question is, once it has clearly been established that an account is used for spamming why can't it simply be de-activated? It doesn't seem to have any Steem Power credited other than the amount given for opening the account in the first place.

Does the blockchain technology not allow this to happen? Will the problem get worse where we need to scroll through 20 or 30 replies before getting to legitimate responses?

Not being too technically savy, am I missing something?

I've just seen two more usual suspect responses get blanked out on this blog already :(

@michaeldodridge There are also many who find isaac.asimov very useful.
You have a mute button and that is the current recommended best solution because then you won't see him anymore.

Great, thanks Williams, I didn't see or understand that function 😃

That would be censorship on the blockchain. It doesn't go down well with crypto types.

But is it technically possible on the backend or designed not to be?

These are the things that will need to be solved by the ingenuity of the community. As adoption improves perhaps the human aspect will improve the comment hierarchy or perhaps novel solutions will come to light.

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 8.4 and reading ease of 67%. This puts the writing level on par with Leo Tolstoy and David Foster Wallace.
