XYO – Bringing the Blockchain to the Real World

As a developer in the world of Blockchain and possibilities, you can finally interact with the real world as if it were an API. This is about location services we now rely on, but this becomes harder and harder as the more frequent situations of cyber attacks and jamming make, for example, the GPS platforms we now use less trustworthy. Not that they don’t provide accurate information, but they are vulnerable and lack certainty and security. Ever happened to you that the parcel following tells you that you will receive it in a couple of hours and the next day you’re still waiting for it?

The solution

Here’s where XYO Network comes in – the XY Oracle Network. This is a newly developed crypto-location protocols and components ecosystem, enabling transactions that you no longer need to “trust”. They are based on the blockchain, eliminating the middleman and bringing you full transparency, accuracy and real information. The abyss we were all looking into between today and the future has finally been bridged! I’d say, be among the first to walk it and to embrace the future! So I was telling you about protocols and components that make up this new ecosystem, which by the way, enables smart contracts to interact with the real world as if it were an API. Components? Yes, four of them, actually

There are four primary components in the XYO Network: Sentinels, Bridges, Archivists and Diviners. They are all considered “witnesses”.

Sentinels are XYO’s own devices – location witnesses – vouch for the certainty and accuracy of the heuristic while producing temporal ledgers. They can be the size of a fully connected GPS, WiFi and mobile connected devices yet as small as RFID chips. All these can be easily added to packaging tape, for example, while being cost-efficient. So many details like the place in warehouse, delays, diversions or theft can be known with accuracy. XYO also partners with other devices and products connected to the internet, for example, your phone can confirm your neighbour’s package arrival. Cars, light bulbs and refrigerators, mobile apps and video cameras, all these are Sentinels, among other IoT devices. Everything gets interconnected in a decentralised way, thanks to the blockchain. In a nutshell, they collect location data and give it to the Bridges, adding Proof of Origin to a relay chain of cryptographic proofs.

Bridges, on the other hand, take location data from the Sentinels and pass it to the Archivists. They are location data transcribers, securely relaying heuristic ledgers from Sentinels to Archivists. A Bridge’s most important trait is that it offers complete assurance to the Archivist that there was no kind of altering to the heuristic ledgers received. What’s more, they add extra Proof of Origin. Yay!

On to the Archivists, which obviously store the location data received from Bridges in a decentralized form. This way they make data available to Diviners while indexing ledgers. Hence, they can return a string of ledger data. This way there is a trustworthy loop of accurate data available upon request. With each data transaction, Proof of Origin is added, making payment tracking available, as all Archivists get paid. The data they store is only raw and get paid for the retrieval of the data only.

Now, Diviners, Diviners take queries from the Archivists in order to answer any given questions. To measure the certainty and accuracy of the heuristic, they must have a high level or Proof of Origin. Diviners are however different than the other components, in that for them to add answers to the blockchain, they use Proof of Work and must be persuaded in providing an honest analysis of heuristics.

So… What’s with the details?
