Regular people often look down gaming as a waste of time, a pastime that leaves no personal gain and drain users for their money. While this is very far from the truth, there are a number of people working to change this perception on the financial front. Jikhan Jung, Francisco Martin, and Jaeheon Kim co-founded Subdream Labs as part of the larger Subdreams Studios with one goal in mind: to build a gaming platform based on blockchain technology that lets users win money by playing online games. This new and revolutionary concept is called Yumerium, and the general idea behind it is to let players embrace the most diverse aspects of playing video games, such as beta-testing, reviewing and sharing them in exchange for tokenized rewards.

How do Yumerium works?

The platform is being developed to work with games designed in the Yumerium ecosystem. Every transaction registered in the blockchain logs of the company will be carried out using the Yumerium Token, nicknamed YUM for exchange services. The rewards that each player is allowed to earn within each game will be determined by their team of developers. Every single endeavor tried out by users can be rewarded: from a single login to sharing the game on social networks. Developing teams can also offer tokenized rewards to those players that go one step beyond and show some loyalty to the brand by bringing in more players. The token rewards collected can be used inside the platform to upgrade specs on a game or to buy in-game money.

The Vision behind Yumerium

The team working at Yumerium is looking at their work as a trade-off. They have witnessed how for years gaming companies have earned millions of dollars from gamers who get no other rewards than the simple pleasure of playing a game to completion. However, the gaming community has one of the most dedicated fanbases out there. There are people who make a living by reviewing and promoting video games, while the gamer just has the option to spend money on it. The recent surge of gaming trends such as the numerous “pay to play” and “pay to win” games flooding the market just add more evidence to expose these facts.

The New Way to Approach Gaming

With Yumerium this is all set to change once, they are the first to propose a mode that is beneficial on both ends: The more committed a player show to be with a game, the more rewards he’ll win. Is the first ever “earn-to-play” scheme offered in the world of gaming? The Yumerium ecosystem is programmed to work with a seeding fund that keeps track of every microtransaction as well as the exchanges done by players using in-game money to get special items or any other operation. The platform is already up and running, and they have four fully functional games:

  • Kingdom Watcher, a shoot’em up/building game.
  • Mega Overload, a retro shooter on the third person.
  • Hell Dimension, a horror-based first-person shooter.
  • Dream Pets a first-person game where you can play and care for a virtual pet.

The team is currently working on a fifth title. If you’d like to know what it is about and get a glimpse of their operation as a whole, you can visit Website, ANN/Bounty Thread and Telegram
