Real estate is probably the oldest form of investment that humans have, and as such we are hesitant to make such sweeping changes to the current system.

I think the industry is ripe for blockchain integration, particularly in developing countries. An economist once said that to make Africa work, a few key things are needed (I think there were 3), and one of them is indisputable land rights, which blockchain can provide (FYI the others are electricity and good governance).
