Lisk Hub 0.10.0 — Delegate Search and Follow Accounts
It is our pleasure to announce the release of Lisk Hub 0.10.0 which brings about the following changes:
-Removal of the Explorer menu item
-Delegate search functionality
-Ability to follow accounts
Removal of the Explorer menu item
Previously, Lisk Hub featured an Explorer menu item that directed users to a page with a search input field that allowed users to search for a transaction ID or Lisk ID. The same search functionality was already provided by the search bar at the top of each page. For this reason, we removed the Explorer page to streamline the search functionality in Lisk Hub. We also updated the search bar to display recent searches, which were previously displayed only on the Explorer page; the functionality is preserved, but the UI is cleaner.
Delegate search functionality
The top search bar at the top of the screen is also where the next enhancement was made. From now on, users can use the search bar to search for delegate names as well. As a user begins to type a search term, suggestions of matching delegates will appear, including their rank, to make it easier to identify desired delegates.
Ability to follow accounts
We are working on a major revamp to address how multiple Lisk accounts are managed in Lisk Hub. Allowing users to follow specific accounts is the first step in this process. Currently, the Hub saves the public key of any account that logs in. This functionality was implemented to help provide easy access to users when they want to check any new transactions without the need to enter the passphrase again, since all the information is publicly available on the blockchain anyway. However, this proved to be confusing to many users, as it is not common in traditional banking applications to have all of one’s transactions publicly available. Therefore, we spend a lot of time thinking about an approach that still supports our original goal but is intuitive for users.
This release is only the first step towards a solution. Hub now allows users to follow any Lisk account by clicking on the “Follow” button on the account page and giving the account a custom title. All of the followed accounts are then listed in a new module on the Dashboard page. This way, users can easily see the balances of all the accounts they are interested in on their Dashboard; the details of each account are just one click away in there.
The next step in this process that will be addressed in upcoming releases will be to remove the saved accounts and add a logout button. We will also make the dashboard accessible without the need to log in so that users can access the list of followed accounts without having to enter their passphrase. The Following accounts functionality will also help us to enable users to use the list as an address book when sending transactions.
