IPCHAIN and WIPO Green: working together to improve security of intellectual property

IPCHAIN, a searchable blockchain database that offers proof of authorship via secure digital publication, is partnering with WIPO Green, a subsidiary company of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

WIPO, which is a part of the United Nations (UN), is the highest authority when it comes to the protection of Intellectual Property. WIPO is responsible for promoting creative intellectual activity and facilitating the transfer of technology related to industrial property to developing countries in order to accelerate economic, social and cultural development.

The partnership with WIPO Green, which is essentially a marketplace for connecting environmental technology and service providers with those seeking innovative solutions operated by the WIPO, is the result of discussions between IPCHAIN and WIPO. Furthermore our CEO, Dominik Thor, was invited to present our project at the Headquarters of WIPO in Geneva and received very positive feedback. IPCHAIN's Lukas Fiedler explains the importance of the partnership:

This partnership is a huge leap forward to reach our goal of providing the best possible database for defensive and scientific publication of all types of intellectual property and shows that WIPO shares our belief in the potential and increased security of DLT technology in the context of IP protection.

With nearly all countries in the world being members of WIPO, we have unlocked a huge potential for our platform, proving that the use case of IPCHAIN exists and that our platform is a much needed improvement for the world of intellectual property. By supporting WIPO Green’s important agenda we can contribute in a meaningful way and incorporate WIPO standards into the IPCHAIN architecture.

While it is not overly complicated to publish information on the blockchain — steemit or Po.et are a good example for this — the real challenge lies in the close cooperation with all the leading authorities to ensure that a platform addresses all the stakeholders’ needs and also gets actively used for research in the context of patents and prior art. I believe IPCHAIN is the only project out there being close to solving these problems.
