Implementation of blockchain in asset management of railroad company The Netherlands

Since a month or two I got interested in the blockchain technology and I am trying to think of some ideas to eventually use it in my daily work.

Let me try to explain what I and my company do. The company builds and maintains the complete railroad system in the Netherlands. My specific role is to build a maintenance plan for the long term for bridges, specifically moving bridges on the crossroads of railways and waterways. Bridges consists of parts with different ages and different life expectancy times. Not all is documented to the deepest level, which would be necessary to implement a degree of automation I guess.

When I make a maintenance order it takes a long time to final work outside. After making the order a check is done whether the part/system is really old/in bad shape, if there is enough funding, what priority this order has, etc. When approved another department works toward tendering the work so a contractor can do the work.

It much more complex and there are more steps involved, but I hope some enthusiasts see potential they want to share.

There are more processes I would like to share later as cases for blockchain technology, but let's look what happens with this case.
