Blockchain startup Chainium: token sale in March to disrupt $76trn equity market

So, yesterday I joined the Bristol Blockchain meetup for a briefing by exciting startup Chainium: https://www.chainium.io/

The presentation was led by Helen Tanner (CMO). Helen argued that the global equity market, worth US$76 trillion, is ‘unfair and inefficient’, based on old-fashioned practices from the 17th century.

In fact, she was pretty darn frank about the market's failings, arguing for:

• No more stock exchanges
• No more trading through banks, brokers and intermediaries
• No more expensive fees.

The Chainium team are taking action by building a platform to buy and sell shares, using blockchain tech. They seek to provide solutions to the problem of raising capital for large enterprises and smaller businesses alike. They’re registered in Lichtenstein (crypto-friendly regulators), and developing a Tech Hub in Bosnia (talented affordable engineers).

It’s still early days: their Proof of Work/Stake mechanism is yet to be fully figured out, and various regulatory hurdles lie ahead. I also reckon they’ll need to sharpen their market segmentation as the platform develops - but all in good time.

You can review company stats and performance, and even 'invest' - I put this in inverted commas because they haven't yet started on the underlying execution architecture.

If this piques your curiosity, you might want to watch out for their token sale in March. But do your homework - I'm not qualified to give investment advice! At the event, the Chainium team said it took them a few weeks to reach their hard cap in the pre-sale due to limited marketing investment, but their online presence has gained momentum since then.
