The Pavo Project is currently in operation for testing in the farms of Turkey, California and Brazil. The Pavo offers as the IoT (Internet of Things) blockchain solution for the agriculture technology ecosystem, it was developed to help farmers improve their crop quality by keeping track of the process from planting, growing and harvesting. This technology will be able to provide a complete solution to the growing and distribution of goods by helping farmers manage production efficiently.

Blockchain in agriculture industry
Using the blockchain technology through smart contract, it will help the farmer’s lives easier from getting exactly what they worked for and with the efficiency of financing it will help reduce costs of various transaction processes from ordering to delivery. The transparency offered by this technology will ensure the safety of foods as all transactions can be made visible, meaning it will help prevent fraud like false labelling and certification. Thus, there will be a trust between suppliers and consumers as information on the food can be accessed or readily available like from production/ processing, handling, certification and delivery allowing the consumers to know the quality and integrity of the product, what is declared as an organic food will really be an organic food; and providing confidence where the food comes and how it was produced.

What is Pavo
The Pavo consists of hardware and software, and a cryptocurrency for the agriculture system. Its goal is to increase the yields, operation efficiency and lower transaction cost. Their technology will be used to record and to analyse the activities from seed to shipment and it will greatly help small farmers. The IoT software will help track the production real time, it will help analyse and record the crops current state to distribution likewise the costs of labour can be tracked too resulting in a fair distribution. The whole process of cultivation too is also measured and tracked so with all this records and data farmers can enjoy a high yields and high quality of crops.

The recording and tracking is done through placing a sensor (the hardware) near the soil and closed to plants then this sensors will transfer the data through a gateway of data storage than can be accessed through a platform or a mobile app with a user friendly interface so it will be easy to monitor resulting to an optimization of crops growing cycle. Overall the Pavo’s foundational technologies are IoT, Blockchain, Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Mobile Learning (ML), in which all of these will be available in the future as stated in the roadmap.

The Pavo has a marketplace wherein pavocoins are used as the central currency to buy and sell crops, data and supplies. The marketplace will enable individuals, families or businesses to have the best price by making a deal directly to the farmers. Regarding the buy and sell of data it is beneficial for Universities or Enterprises. The pavocoin can also be used by farmers to act as a coupon to customers. Aside from the marketplace, the tokens are used as a payment for the subscription of the platform, the basis for smart contracts, for voting in incentives, community support and loyalty program.
