McDonald's China makes a triumphant entry into the World of Non-Fungible Token, NFT
The Chinese branch of McDonald's, a United States Multinational fast-food company founded in 1940, has announced it is releasing its first-ever NFT, the “Big Mac Cube” — a name inspired by the company’s popular sandwich.
The NFT’s release coincides with McDonald's China’s 31st anniversary and the opening of its new headquarters in Shanghai, China — whose design also inspired the NFT art creation.
The Big Mac Cube is one out of the 188 NFT artworks that will be made available to the company’s employees and franchise operators as limited edition gifts. The NFT artwork is collectively inspired by
- The brand spirit of McDonald's
- The shape of the new headquarters
- The drawing from the building structure
- The company brand colors of red, orange and yellow.
The fast-food company also built these NFTs based on five company values: service, tolerance, integrity, community, and family; as well as three keywords: love, technology, and trend, according to the news statement. The NFTs' keywords and values prompts were created and designed to create eight three-dimensional scenarios, which were coupled with the shape of the new headquarters' structure to form a "big nothing."
McDonald's entry into NFTs follows the release of NFTs by Taco Bell, Burger King, and even Budweiser.
Last March, Taco Bell introduced the 'NFTacoBells,' which sold out in less than 30 minutes on Rarible. Burger King's NFT effort began with Sweet, an NFT platform, publishing its "Keep It Real Meals" initiative as QR codes on over six million meal boxes around the network. The QR codes provide you access to a digital collectible, which can lead to more NFTs.
