South Korea KT Telecom Introduces Blockchain To Its Network
Of all the businesses you would expect blockchain to appear in, a mobile phone company would be one of the most surprising.
And yet, KT, South Korea state-owned telecom just announced they will introduce this technology in a few key areas of their business: 5G, finance and energy platforms.
It's not yet clear how and where exactly this technology will fit, but what is clear is the KT hopes to ride the PR wave of the "if it's on the blockchain, it must be good" trend. According to the press release:
Countless blocks that contain individuals or businesses’ digital data will be connected as a chain, which will be securely stored and transparently transacted on the network with less hacking risks, [].
You must admit this sounds rather cool.
The platform will be able to process up to 2500 transactions per second and they aim at reaching 100,000 TPS by the end of 2019.
While there will be no token, and the blockchain used will be just a glorified distributed database, this is still important enough to be talked about, IMHO.

Will be interesting to see how the implementation evolves and if other telecom companies also consider moving forward.

Nothing can stop the cryptocurrency revolution
But one thing to keep in mind... Just like dotcom scandal now a day companies are tending to use "blockchain" in their portfolio for market attraction :)
Blockchain is like a media attention catnip these days. Although I will agree that the news will shed some positive light on the cryptosphere as well and maybe soothe some ruffled feathers as well
I love that, and everyday new innovations is proving this to be true.
Never heard that before but its true, blockchain is the new rave of the moment, its already going into agriculture, with the cotton coin thing. More are still coming.
