What's Your Role on the Blockchain?

I saw an acquaintance of mine at a coffee shop. He and his girlfriend had just broken up. That puts you in a weird space where your whole world is open up to you, and... where to go? What to do now? He's moving to a town a half hour away. He's working on music. Can't put his finger on any one thing.

And I got to introduce him to the blockchain. Have you ever got to explain it to someone for the first time and experience their excitement and hope? He thought the idea of Steemit was really cool, and I told him about dsound. "We need artists like you on the blockchain," I said. He lit up with a sense of recognition and purpose. He casually wiped water away from his eye under his iridescent sunglasses.

When people's worlds fall apart they're raw and ripe for something new. Everyone needs purpose and meaning to their lives. When we don't have one, when we're not bettering the world in our own way and using our minds and creative focus, we dwindle away and die.

This is a new important project that we're all a part of. And I want to invite you to take your role seriously. Don't just come here to Steemit to make easy money. You'll probably fail.

Success is giving yourself over and devoting yourself to something bigger than you. The blockchain movement is bigger than all of us.

People put sooooo much pain and agony and grief into wondering what they're here for. Please, don't make a big deal out of it. Help people. How to help people? Whatever is right in front of you. If you make music, just add purpose to it. Make it about something bigger than you. If you take photos, add purpose to it. What are your photos going to bring to someone's life? Whatever it is that you do, just devote it to something bigger, and it will take on a new life.

If you don't have any hobbies or interests, take advantage of whatever life presents you with to make whatever you encounter a little better.

That's it. That's all there is. When you comment here, add. Very soon, a very clear purpose will unveil itself to you and you will remember.

Stephen Covey says the most important thing you can do in life is to have a mission statement. You know what, it will always grow and change. But write out a mission statement for yourself and your life. What's important to you? Think about this: if you found out you were dying in 72 hours, how would you spend that 72 hours? This is what's most important to you. Never forget that.

What do you know that you don't want to be forgotten?

The blockchain needs you. It needs you to be your best. There's a lot at stake here. This is a place where you can innovate and experiment and blossom. There's never been so much opportunity for an individual. There has especially never been as much opportunity for an individual to support themselves sharing their unique gifts. Don't make a big deal finding what your gifts are. Share something with whatever's in front of you. You'll remember it. I promise.
