Palau's president said at the virtual conference that for the first time in history, anyone in the world can conduct business activities through Palau's digital residency program.
Under this scheme, anyone can pay a total of $248 and receive an identity document in physical and NFT form, but it still does not grant the right to reside in Palau.
Critics, however, warn that the program could lead to crypto scammers and corruption, as not enough due diligence has been done on the scheme.
