The Defiant - MakerDAO May Execute ‘Emergency Shutdown’ If Sanctions Hit DAI

Since MakerDAO's DAI tokens are heavily backed by USDC, many have questioned the decentralization of that stablecoin after the USDC Tornado Cash wallet was blacklisted.

Many in the virtual currency community are urging Maker to reduce its reliance on centralized stablecoins due to the predominance of USDC among DAI's collateral assets.

According to a post by MakerDAO founder Rune Christensen, Maker is currently making plans for an emergency shutdown if USDC that is backing its stablecoin DAI, is blacklisted by Washington.
