Lightning Bitcoin Sees it's First Successful Transaction.

Lightning bitcoin has been causing a stir of controversy among those more dedicated to the technical aspects of blockchain, as many see it as a less decentralized version of Bitcoin itself due to it's necessity of centralized banking hubs. Not only are people wary of it's technology but also of what it backs, the Futures market. It is seen as a point of manipulation in the Bitcoin ecosystem as wealthy institutional investors bet on BTC price targets.

One point not of dispute however is the true effectiveness of the Lightning network, with it's super speed transactions and ultra low fees it is the most capable and scalable of the Bitcoin hard forks yet. It is designed for hyper scalabillity on the global level, and intended to be cost effective enough as to allow for micro transactions of the currency. And just two days ago it's first transaction was a success.

The transaction recorded on someone on Reddit, with the purchase of a VPN Router through a Torguard payment channel. The transaction accumulated essentially zero fees and took minutes, and is one of the only cryptocurrencies today capable of achieving such a feat. So will LBTC become more widely used as a payment method, or will traditional crypto enthusiasts be more evasive of the currency? Time will tell but regardless it's efficiency is obvious, will it be able to retain this performance even in cases of user influxes.

it is likely that people will adopt it as a payment method in years to come due to it's branding and also product association with Bitcoin Core, something that the public is mostly aware of nowadays. If larger accumulations of people start to utilize cryptocurrency this would be a likely first choice due to expense and efficiency benefits, and the status of Bitcoin excelling the products reputation. So it could be likely to see large gains long term, and it currently only has a trading volume of $1.2 million, leaving much room for growth.
