THE PETRO VENEZUELAN CAUSES INTERESTS OR UNCERTAINTY

in #blockchain7 years ago

With the pre-sales of Petro (PTR), the Criptomoneda that has been promoted by the Venezuelan government, is generating many repercussions in different areas, from the international financial system to the crypto community, and this was not a matter that happened Unnoticed by the media.

From another point of life it is very interesting for a government to start using technology and this is only the first of many. Now, it has been a few days since it started working, so it is advisable to analyze certain aspects of the news that go beyond the launch.

For now, according to some analyses, the information found in the official channels about Petro is very little and doubtful. It is because of that that the opinions, comments and analyses, with respect in the social networks are quite controversial. On its website that is http://petro.gob.ve have a manual available in different languages where it explains what are the steps to acquire the PTR. Where the first step is to register in a site of the Ministry of the Popular Power for university education Science, Technology (MPPEUCT). On the other hand try them but I never get the confirmation email of the registry.

At the beginning the Petro would be a token ERC-20, based on the Ethereum network, but it was changed at the last minute and decided that its presale would be by the NEM network. For the moment, NEM team clarified on Twitter's social network that the NEM Foundation is not directly involved with this Petro project, and that they are not in a position to control an open source project. And this generates greater uncertainty and contradictions in the last-minute changes that arose one day before the pre-sale. For the moment the concerns of the users concerned have not been clarified by the Venezuelan authorities.

According to the initial draft, the Petro network would be based on the Decred code and will not be mineable. In addition, the Petro would be redeemable for trust money and other Criptoactivos through digital exchange houses. The Venezuelan State stated that it will accept the payment of national taxes, obligations, fees, contributions and public services at PTR, but so far there have been no pronouncements of recognized exchange houses to adopt this Criptomoneda.

Some voices within the Crypto community express themselves concerned about the government's control over the new currency arguing that, unlike other Criptomonedas, PTR is not decentralized, but built as a blockchain federated, under Supervision of the Government or its entities and this characteristic would not give any reinsurance against an arbitrary exchange market.

To the extent that the information is normalize and the doubts about the Petro are clarified by the issuing body, we can have a somewhat clearer picture about the potential of this criptoactivo. Meanwhile, this experiment is resonant because it comes from the hand of a government.
