Blockchains creates honesty , this is why I officially love steemit
Hiding who you really are online
Its so easy to create a false persona online. Hiding all your immature part while highlighting only your best parts. One of the allures of social media is it allows you to be whoever you want to be. Want people to see how funny you are? Post a joke you found online. Want people to think your smart? Find links to websites and discuss them. It’s possible by using social media to be someone you’re not or more correctly, it’s possible to be someone you’d like to be.
We all have are flaws and can't interact with a large group (online or offline) for long without showing our imperfections over disagreements ever once in a while. This is a normal, natural, thing with all social interaction but a lot of us (myself included) have the instinctive desire to hide it. Have controversy over the people who are responding in the comment section? In a lot of cases, with social media or websites, a person will usually do one of four things:
- Make a reply to the comment
- Ignore
- delete comment
- block the person
Really only the first option is conducive to a community. Option number two is ok but in a community the issue, if not resolved, will eventually resurface again until it is processed and dealt with by all parties. It's so easy to feel attacked and misunderstood on the internet. Seeing one another eye to eye takes a lot of maturity. This to me is one of the most amazing things about blockchains/steemit; It provides a platform of community, responsibility, and honesty.
With blockchain (from my understanding) since each block is a connected to the next one, forming an infinite chain, there is an inability to delete anything. Because of this everything must be confronted head on. No ability to hide what you have done in the past. This has its positive and negatives. One of the greatest things about it is
No Censorsip
Blockchain gives Freedom to express any idea or thought that society would usually censor. No automated program like social media usually uses to filter and delete post with keywords in it that "shouldn't be talked about". governments often push for these filter to control the way people think. For better or worse blockchain prevents this; Whether it is political or something that offends someone with moderating power.
blockchains creates an environment of responsibility. A place where people must meet each other half way and see each other eye to eye, working out each others misunderstandings and differences.
What really caused me to realize all of this is when steemian made a post recently. Another steemian responded in the comment who felt a lack of acknowledgement for what he said in a previous conversation. They both expressed to each other on a recent post how they were feeling misunderstood/attacked by each other. After talking to each other for a while they resolved each others differences and saw each other eye to eye. This is something I have never seen on any other social media except steemit. Just this me seeing this happen and how beautiful it was, made me a full supporter of blockchain.
