The word ‘cybersecurity’ is not new to individuals and corporate organizations anymore. What used to be of less importance in the past has now turned into a nightmare for organizations. Interestingly, cyber-attacks keep evolving and becoming more advanced daily, thereby making it difficult to alleviate them. A typical example is a transition from the use of malicious.exe files to incorporate fileless methods, i.e. most cyber-attacks no longer make use of malicious.exe files to package and deploy malware.

Forecasts predict that cybercrime damage cost is expected to reach about $6 trillion yearly by 2012 from $3trillion in 2015. Also, cybersecurity cost has been predicted to surpass $1 trillion by 2021. These figures clearly show the magnanimous effect of cyber-attacks on organizations.

UNCLOAK MODEL AND ITS OFFERINGS

Uncloak aims to develop a decentralized detection platform that places importance on the robustness of the community to play a part in detecting vulnerabilities. Uncloak’s solution will utilize the combination of an involved community of cybersecurity experts and artificial intelligence to uncover obscure security threats. The introduction of artificial intelligence provides an added advantage because it helps to regularly update the platform by scanning the internet for emerging security vulnerabilities to add to the existing threat vulnerability database.

Once a scan been completed, the vulnerabilities found are converted to security signatures, and then a check is carried out on the base network and infrastructure of subscribed clients to know if any of the detected vulnerabilities occur in them. If vulnerabilities are found to be present, the client is instantly informed of remedial measures to be taken.

Another interesting thing about the Uncloak solution is the voting rights system. This system will replace the traditional method where organizations are not well prepared and informed to handle emerging cyber attacks, and then have no choice but to bank on vulnerability scanning applications, which in turn also depend on hackneyed cyber threat security information to determine the risk exposure of an organization's infrastructure.

How is this achieved? Uncloak will design a voting right system by utilizing smart contracts to enable ethical hackers to be duly rewarded with UCC tokens for any newly detected cyber threat vulnerability which has been also been confirmed satisfactory by other ethical hackers. Also, the smart contract enables duly registered Uncloak IT security experts or software developers to join forces to uncover vulnerabilities and its possible remedies. These registered IT security experts or software developer are referred to as 'hunters' on the platform.

Once a vulnerability has been found and recorded by a hunter, it is instantly confirmed to know if such vulnerabilities already exist or not in the public cyber database. Once confirmed and satisfied by 4 validators (ethical hackers) to be a new vulnerability, the hunter who detected the vulnerability will be rewarded with 10,000 UCC tokens and validators with 1,500 UCC tokens respectively. Both the hunters and validators will be able to exchange their UCC tokens to UNC tokens on the platform.

In order to further revitalize the traditional cyber security industry, Uncloak partnered with a leading Artificial Intelligence software development firm, Krzana, to develop the AI threat detection engine. The detection engine will help to regularly search for unstructured text data both on the public internet and the dark web (hidden section of the internet), and then convert it into structured and easily applicable data used to build reports in order to inform clients about the recent cyber threat terrain.

The detection engine which utilizes artificial intelligence is a private cloud-based real-time cyber threat search engine and has the capability to read streams of publicized text data from more than 7,000 channels across the public internet and dark web.

As it was earlier stated, hunters and ethical hackers are able to convert their UCC tokens to UNC tokens on the platform. This means two different tokens will be utilized to fuel the Uncloak platform, each with its specific use case.
